I don't envisage the taps being more than two tiles width at most above the sink so I'm hoping it'll be ok splash-wise. I'm having a glass panel fitted to the top of the console too. The wide sink idea is purely taste, I just don't think I like square or round but oval is still an option. I'm thinking mini-Butler style or trough. Hadn't really thought about water pressure. A few more pic ideas attached to peruse. I'm beginning to wish I just wanted a bland white suite now!!!

I'm having a multi-fuel burner fitted (max. 6kw output) and want to paint the surrounding fireplace gold. What is the best type of paint to use? I was thinking of buying a specialist stove paint but I already have a pot of Craig&Rose water-based acrylic paint that I could use. Would this paint be suitable? At the moment, the fitter has just put up the white fireboard and fixed a bit of the surrounding plaster. Should he be plastering inside as well?

I knocked 3 rooms together to create one kitchen/diner. My cost for building work was £19k. This involved 3 steel beams, creating a new doorway into the room, creating opening for external doors. On top of that there was cost/fit of kitchen, new boiler, new radiator, new flooring, new lights,.new door, new bifold external doors..... sure there was others too. We removed our old kitchen ourselves as we sold it! So if your £20k includes the kitchen and building work, sounds good to me, assuming it's supporting walls that are coming down?
