Small extension make over
We have a small extension at the back of our house (that we are planning to fully renovate). Does anyone have any ideas to improve the external appearance? Particularly the 2 very small windows. I had initially considered a modern flat roof extension, so if there are elements of that I could bring to this one that would be great

Original Author8 years agoSorry forgot to mention I had pancakes for breakfast! It will be a dining room. Something like this would be more my taste, but we are keeping the structure as it is. Just wondering about new widows/doors/cladding/plants etc to update the look a little

Original Author8 years agoWow that does look so much better! Maybe 2 new windows and a lick of paint for the doors is all that is needed :)
- 8 years agoI just wondered if you add a fixed window about 80cm wide and as tall as will fit on the gable end and put a garden mirror on the garden wall you will end up with more light plus an illusion of a secret garden through the mirror. ?
Mmm, maple syrup with pancakes :) - 8 years agoAre those corner bricks rounded off? I love them if they are?
And what you planning for rest of windows? Think that will affect what colour you change bi folds to, if you do change that is. :) A B
Original Author8 years agoYes they are to match the existing house-well spotted! One of the big reasons I decided to keep the extension as it is actually. The windows will remain white/won't be replaced. Not keen on white bifolds. Is anthrocite too much of a contrast though?

I quite like the anthracite doors.
I've cladded it too (ignore the wobbly roof line, did it quickly), because your initial idea was to go way more modern. But I like the brick with either anthracite or white doors best. Visuals do help, I think.

- 8 years agoI think anthracite will be good. But I’m not usually a fan of windows and doors in white or the heritage colours unless they are old original ones or high end reproductions. But I know other people are and they can look good.
