Need help for my lounge!
Comments (16)Thanks Sherbert for your kind words. I love this room too. :) A few people are recommending Little Greene for paint, so will definitely purchase from there - especially as prices seem quite reasonble for luxury paint. In terms of the desk in the window, I'm not keen on that idea as we have a separate little cubby hole under the stairs which we'll use for a desk :) Also, we have two Moray armchairs arriving soon, which will either both (or one) be by the window along with a little table with a lamp on. In terms of the alcoves, I'd like to keep these as symmetrical as possible - we have the same alcove layout for our dining room (which is through from the lounge) as per this image. I'd like similar display cabinets in the alcoves in the dining room, and then keep the alcoves alongside the chimney breast clear in the lounge. I have looked at Purbeck Stone from Farrow & Ball for the chimney breast in the lounge which I think would compliment the colour of the sofa and chairs, which we could then accent with soft furnishings and ornaments/vases. Do you think this colour would look too dark in the lounge? Thanks....See MoreNeed help to bring colour into my lounge.
Comments (2)Hi. Have you ever considered a real interesting eye catching piece of art work to really brighten up an area, I think a select piece of art would really make the space stand out, add interest, colour, texture and add a great talking point to the room.... Please check out my website if you like the idea and please get in contact, commission work is also welcomed so if you like a particular style I can do in a select colour palette and size as an original piece…..I’m also able to produce all original paintings in high end print format, in any size same or smaller than the original. (all within proportions to the original so not to cause distortion) All prints shown are Giclee prints onto soft textured fine art media. All prints come with a white border these can be made to measure too. So lots of options, www.guigsart.co.uk...See MoreSmall Lounge with awkward features - layout help needed
Comments (12)Dear Caroline, Congratulations on your new flat! Not wanting to assume, are the steps leading downstairs to the kitchen start as you enter the room? Couple of things for you to consider: - Storage unit on the other side of the stair (is there a bannister/wall/railing?); please do send through pictures. It might be possible to fit in a bookcase as a divider (recommend a low one and to accessorise the top, for example, with a vase, lamp, picture frames and candles. - Your lounge area is not that small; however, rather than a couch and a chair, have you considered an L-shaped sofa, with a coffee table in front of it and a TV unit across on the opposite wall. - What is your budget and preferred design style? - What is the flooring? Consider getting a rug. We are happy to assist you further so please do not hesitate to contact us. Good luck!...See Moreneed help for my lounge
Comments (1)Hi. do you have a picture of the sofas? What way does the room face and what colours do you like or do you want neutral? In any case rather than go for a white ceiling (unless you're going for light walls) you could pick a colour that is a couple of shades lighter than the walls to maximise height. If you have skirting boards it would also help to paint them in the wall colour which will visually add more height...See MoreAngharad
