You have wooden furniture so I’d be looking at a pale green on the walls. Cromarty by Farrow & Ball is a nice light pale green and you can ask other paint companies to mix it for you to save money. Once you’ve decided on the wall colour then take it from there with accessories.

I really like the Oak drawers and Wardrobe, but I feel the bed is overpowering the room with wood.

I'd go for an upholstered look bed to break it up and soften it down a little.

Add maybe some pale feather wallpaper, peacocks maybe? Something soft and neutral behind the bed.

Ramp up the bedding department and add in some textures.

What decor style do you like - country, contemporary, mid century?

I decided to get white furniture when I decorated my bedroom. I find lots of wood overpowering, not saying I dislike it, just don’t want lots of it in a room. Would you be up for painting the bed frame? A nice off white would be a good start. Before choosing the wall paint I wonder if getting some bedding you like would be good, then pic a colour from it for the walls. Just an idea. You say you want a neutral but there are so many from off white to dark beige or grey.

I’ve got Egyptian Cotton (Dulux) in my north east facing bedroom which I really like. I’m about to paint the wall behind the bed in a very soft plum (Laura Ashley Pale Iris) which will tie in with my LA curtains.
I just needed more colour! Bedding is white. By the way I love Mrs Maths suggestion, very glam!

Thank you everyone! This gives me lots to think about and lots of tips for a good starting point. I love the look of the green against the oak but we already have a green and oak kitchen and a cream and green lounge so sadly I think I may have to add a different colour in. I'm going to look for a nice duvet and then take it from there with the colour scheme. I will also have a look for a bed with a fabric headboard to break up the wood. Thanks!!

i don't know what you think of the oak Amelia bed from Time4sleep? It's a really good price and gets great reviews. I would go for a flush chandelier, this one is from BHS. Personally I'd go for Roman blinds, they won't visually fill the room and will let more light in. I've just added a Laura Ashley wallpaper and striped blinds but if you're up for wallpaper maybe choose one and then people can help further? I'd just opt for white bedding and add colour with cushions and a throw. I think an oval mirror hung landscape behind the flowers on the chest would work well too.

The bed with the spindles is a bit overwhelming. So I'm with the above, be it a more elegant oak frame or an upholstered bed.

Here some looks I personally think would really look lovely. A bit cooler/neutral wall color, very pale. No too much bling. Add new bedlamps (be it standing or wallmount, something pretty) and a very simple flush mount ceiling light (something functional). Natural (unbleached) cotton drapes (but you could probably keep the existent ones). Perhaps a mirror or a large framed wallpaper panel above the bed.
