Cat flap in glazed window?
Comments (4)I wrote this last year and forgot to say I have successfully had a catflap installed in a low rise window. I live in Kings Langley, Hertfordshire and it was done by a local glazier who was extremely nice. I got to keep the original glazing so that when I move the new owners have the choice of removing the catflap panel and having the original window back. I have since lost one of my cats and I'm down to one but both were happily going in and out. See picture below...See MoreBi fold doors and cat flaps
Comments (4)We had one of our dog flaps through a double glazed door. The problem lies in that you have to have new glass cut to fit the pet flap, re-install the glass and then fit the pet flap. I know it's a pain, and thus a lot of people choose to go with the through the wall version, but any glazing company can help. If you buy one of the flaps for a double glazed - or triple glazed door ( you can buy extension tunnels to ensure the right depth through the glass ) then give it to your glazing company to have the glass custom cut. No easy solution i'm afraid...See MoreCat Proofing Cast Iron Fireplace
Comments (4)There would most likely originally have been a damper - a cast iron plate that fits the hole and can be flapped back and forth to open or close the chimney. Many fireplaces have lost theirs, sounds like yours have too? If so, you could look for a replacement but it may be tricky to find one that fits. Alternatively you could look into chimney sheep or chimney balloons which are designed to block off chimneys - though you’d have to consider whether these would be cat proof!...See Morehelp need for dog flap idea
Comments (7)Just a thought. You have wall space either side of the bi folds. I would build in a shallow cupboard either side, with a display ledge on top. One of the cupboards could hide your dog flap, built into the wall behind. All you have to do is ensure the door can be fixed open when you’re out but you won’t have to see it when you’re home....See Moredonut99
