Where do the stairs on the left go? Seems the stairs on the right can access both the patio and the grass.

I’d probably move them a bit to the right side and have them come straight out. And then maybe turn right. This way you can sit in your steps. And have access to the patio and yard. Don’t think two staircases are necessary

Personally I wouldn't do 2 sets of stairs. Stairs are expensive and take up a decent chunk of space, and I don't see what it gains you.

I'd break up descent. Make the first descent wide like the opening you have which is wider than this example. Go down a few steps 1/3 of the height or so. That creates a landing. It makes the structure deeper into your yard but more graceful and a better climb with the landing.

You can still access your yard if your stairs don't point that way. Unless you really feel like you need to have access to your garage from your deck. Or if you just really want 2 sets of stairs, I suppose. I would put the stairs toward your patio. Accessing the rest is easy enough once you're there. Put a landing in to break it up as suggested if that appeals to you.

The steps also block more light and any views from the basement windows.

I like two stairways for safety reasons.

If you are cooking on the deck and there is a fire, or there is a fire in the house, it allows for two exits.

However, the stairways don't need to look as in your plan.

One of them can be off to the side directly into the yard with just a small paved area below it so that it doesn't obstruct views from the basement.

If your kitchen is on the first floor, and you will never be doing any cooking on that second floor deck, then go with only one stairway down that minimizes the obstruction of the view of the first floor but is easy for the occupants of the second floor to exit from for safety reasons as I mention earlier.

Adding a 10k-15k set of stairs for redundant safety seems a bit much to me. If you want another escape route, get a fire ladder for $60 and call it a day.

Stairs to garage seem to have no destination. I would not put money into two sets of stairs. i would enlarge deck and bring stairs straight down to a landing that would then turn toward patio. View when sitting on stairs would then be your back yard.

Have you considered a 2-tiered design? Another level, about 3 steps lower would give you less of a view to your neighbors and a slightly separated area for people to congregate. At the same time, it makes a nice transition to the grass.

I would keep the stairs to the deck and throw out the other set. Space on the deck is more vaulable than extra (unnecessary) stairs. With the money you save you can build an arbor over part of the deck, and have a shaded area for a table or seating.

What is under the deck ? IMO a 2 or even 3 level deck is anice choice and also eliminates the long set of stairs . You can have a outdoor kitchen on the level next to the kitchen then an eating level and a seating level sort of this idea
