Is there a reason why you are getting rid of the coving? I do think a ceiling rose is odd without coving. We are in a 30s bungalow, kept coving in hall, living room, downstairs bedrooms but no coving in the new dining/kitchen extension.

We have ceiling roses in our bedroom but no coving and it looks fine, downstairs all rooms have coving and ceiling roses, we are building a new kitchen living extension where there will be no coving or ceiling roses

Personally I think you can make anything work, why not :) I've done a tin tile as a ceiling rose looks fab. Maybe go for a more modern looking ceiling rose rather than ornate one if no coving? I love when the ceiling is painted a colour, along with the ceiling rose! Good luck with your project x

@ Ellie, the preexisting coving was in a terrible state and only in one of those interconnected rooms. There also isn’t any anywhere else in the house. I think I’m worried about the coving making the ceilings feel lower
