Depending on where it is located ie living room, bed room, reception area etc. Either you demolish it or you decorate it per your taste. You can find many ideas on pinterest for fake fireplaces.

If it’s an authentic original feature, it would be an error to remove. Make more of a feature of it and put in candles to start and dress the mantle as you would like.

@HU-85652947169 oh I’m definitely not getting rid of it… I should of written that differently…. I meant just the internal part… should I cement it and/ or tile… what’s most practical.

@siobhanmchee90… It is original and I’m definitely keeping it, it’s just how to finish the inside bit off. Get it cemented and or tiled? Im just not sure how people finished their internal part when it’s left in this condition x

We have one in our bedroom that is just the rough stone back after the fire insert had been taken out - years before we bought the house - we have just painted it matt black. We did manage to find a front grill for it in a salvage yard. We have had candles and logs in it over the years, but it is empty now as the spiders loved the logs!
