tile source - any ideas?!

I love the subway tile in this shower - it appears to have some slight variation to the coloring. Does anyone have a guess on where this tile might be sourced from? Any leads appreciated! Thanks!

MY guess Zellige subway. I do not like subway tile in showers becuase of all the grout lines but those are used often

Following on from radicalman's comment, even if you can't afford to do everything at once, ask the architect to draw up exactly what you want to achieve and to set it out so you can do it in several logical stages if need be, so you end up with a cohesive whole. You'll save money that way and end up with a pleasing whole. - someone I know has spent a fortune on their 70s bungalow doing loads of separate projects: add a conservatory, convert the loft, new kitchen, make the garage into a utility room, patio behind the house, fountain in front(!) change the windows and sadly, despite having spent a fortune over the years, has ended up with a sad looking bungalow containing a warren of small rooms and no flow whatsoever.

I'm not sure it is such a large recess that you would get a way with making a feature of it as mentioned above. A dropped ceiling with LED would be more appropriate, but that is likely to cost more than simply having the fluorescent taken out an the hole boarded and plastered. There are large LED panel fittings for sale on Bay, but the max. size of these seems to be 30 x 120, which is too small to fill or cover your gap. If you are looking for an inexpensive solution, then you (or a handy local electrician) could try making your own light fitting on a dropped panel to cover it over - something that fits the scale and proportion of the room better than that recess does! (it's not clear how the recess is positioned in relation to the other structures in the room, but here's a couple of ideas...) It's probable, though, that you are relying on this one source of light too much. Even if you have a very bright light on your kitchen ceiling there will still be shadows cast that will stop you from being able to see when you're using your work surfaces, unless you have strategically placed LED downlighter recessed in the ceiling. Perhaps you could think about fitting some LED strips under your wall cabinets to provide some bright task lighting over your worktops. IKEA has a great solution for this and if you do it you'll find you don't need to worry about the quality of light from above quite so much, which then broadens the range of single pendant fittings you could look at using. The strips also provide great mood lighting when the kitchen is not being used :)

Strange - when you look at the side wall of the bathroom , it looks like a classic 3 x 6 off white subway tile, just like the color of the floor. I wonder if what you are seeing in the shower is shadowing and reflection?

The best thing to do is get into a tile store and see the real thing.

Call Subway Tile Ceramics.Explain what you are looking for and I bet they have it. Many photos of their tiles show this degree of subtle variation and they have wonderful ivory colors. I'm just not seeing any pics on their site of this specific color.

I too am wondering if some of the variation in color is shadows and reflections of the white fixtures making some areas appear lighter and others darker. The side walls look uniform but the window shower wall does not. I'm a sucker for subway tile, off white is even better. If you use pencil thin groutlines, keeping them clean is not an issue.

It's not a zellige. too perfect looking.

looks like an upscale ceramic tile w/all the matching trim/liner pieces (as mentioned above)

Everything, even the floor, all matches.

Try those places mentioned above, although you're looking at $40 a sq foot or so.

You could try Bedrosians. they have many similar matching items at half the price.

Cloe tile is one, Makoto, Sahara, Celine, are all others.

when I did this one I went to my local tile place and picked this handmade look subway tile w/matching liner.

the floor in a porcelain herringbone, curb is a quartz backsplash piece cut to fit.

I believe it is Sonoma Tile. Their Pure line. Check the chair rail and the baseboard in your photo. These are classic trim pieces in this line. I have these tiles and trim pieces in my bathroom in white.
