Start by doing a 1/4” = 1’ scale drawing of each room noting widths of windows and doors and other openings. Or post the dimensions here and i can do a layout for you. Get place to start. Get yourself some key things. A tape measure that is 25’ long. A straight edge ruler. A package of 1/4” ruled paper. (Office Depot has this paper). Then go around the room and measure each element. Note on paper sketch. Just get the basics. Then you can translate to more careful drawing. Now you have basics. Do not buy ANYTHING until you have this drawing done. When determining furniture sizes keep 3’ for walkways/traffic patterns at least. 18” from sofa to coffee table. Don’t let this scare you. It just takes time.
