I use 3 - 4 inches of crushed concrete blend also known as RCA. I also maintain this property for the homeowner and we still have to spray the driveway several times a season to keep the weeds at bay. You can achieve a similar look using oil and stone on top of the concrete blend and this will help reduce the weeds its just a more expensive process and does not achieve the same country feel.
