Across from the laundry we could add shelves, drawers and cabinets. I would do something like this but the bottom shelf I'd have as a cabinet with a couple rows of drawers above and then open shelving.

Small and pretty. We could just leave open the space for the washer and dry with shelving on top, then close off the rest of the closet for the water heater, brooms, vacuum, and other cleaning supplies.

The size here would be similar to our current laundry space. We could add a tile background with shelving around (tile not necessary) and a new barn door could look nice.
