Structural changes aren't as easy as the home renovation shows make them appear. I think they've led people to believe they can revamp their house over a 3 day weekend when nothing could be further from the truth. If you're serious about doing some renovations, watch Renovation Realities on the DIY Network to see what it's like. And hiring someone else to do it is equally frustrating as you have total strangers taking over your house. In our experience of remodeling and then renovating our kitchen, it costs twice as much as you think it will, takes twice as long and is twice as difficult as you expect. Make sure you fully understand what you're getting yourself in for if you decide to make some structural changes. I agree with Sophie that youwould be far better off to sell, and find a house you liked.
