I sooo love my little stone cottage. It's on the market now, and I'm going to miss it when it sells. But it's just too big for one little ol' me and a cat.

I really wanted to replace that retaining wall with stone, but I guess that's a project for the next owner.

I did a lot of work smoothing out and refinishing the plaster, especially in these two rooms and the hallway. The previous owners put in the bamboo here, though I had to finish it up by extending it into the hallway there going back to the guest bathroom.

This is where I spend most of my time. You can't see it too well but I did a sponge paint pattern on the front and far walls that came out great. The painting above the piano is of a really fancy room with a piano with a similar color-feel -- I always said the painting was this room dreaming of what it wanted to be when it grew up.

Didn't have to do much to this room, but pulled down some craptacular old wallpaper and repainted. I do love that this room still has the home's original hardwood.

This hallway & utility area was painted some weird dark orange color that really made the area feel closed in and oppressive, I think it feels much brighter and open now. Also they had that cabinet mounted on the left hand wall, with the door opening to the left -- and blocked by the light fixture -- so it was basically useless. I can't believe I waited 6 years to fix that!

I did a lot of work in the master bath; new vanity, medicine cabinet, and shower fixtures. The old vanity, aside from being flimsy MDF with cheap fixtures, was too big for the room, so you can actually sit comfortably on the toilet now.

I love this whole back addition dining / kitchen area. From the street people think the house is tiny, then they come back here and it's "whoa, I wasn't expecting this".

This room used to have irritating pastel yellow walls with a f-ton of nail holes and such, and a dingy brown carpet. I laid the new bamboo myself -- good practice for my next house, in which I'm doing all the floors myself.

The kitchen is the one area I hired some help, I had a crew replace the counter tops and reface the cabinets. The old kitchen wasn't terrible, but it was wearing and the cabinet doors were cheap laminated MDF. I did install the new sink, swap out some light fixtures, and put up some crown molding myself. And of course, paint.

Didn't have to do much here but paint. I did have the carpet replaced back when I first moved in. I wish I'd known then that I could have laid bamboo myself for about what it cost to have someone else put in the carpet.

The upstairs used to be a nasty pastel green. The previous owners really liked chalk, I think.

Alas, the upstairs sits empty. Hence the whole this-house-is-too-big-for-me thing.

I got my handyman skills on and fixed a few warped boards before giving the deck a fresh new coat of stain.
