@teaka123 Hi there. We ended up going with the lighter hardwood in the bedrooms and keeping the dark in the hallway because it is also dark throughout the main floor and we didn’t want to change all of that. At least not right now. We ran the hardwood in the bedrooms perpendicular to the hallway. I love it

You can eliminate the fluorescents, put crown around the edge with recessed rope lighting and call it a tray ceiling. Add a semi flush mount fixture instead of a ceiling fan pictured below.
