Garage Door Insulation

I live in Minnesota, attached garage. Insulation doesn't keep garage any warmer, or cooler in a unheated/uncooled garage, imo. Is the rest of the garage insulated? The insulated doors are just nicer. The uninsulated ones don't seem as sturdy. I think when I replaced my garage door (purchased from a big box store) about 5 years ago the uninsulated ones were approximately 20% less. If you average that out however many years you will have those doors the cost difference was almost nothing. The independent contractor I hired to install my doors (that's all he did was install garage doors) really hated the "tin can" doors and said they just don't last as long nor look good for as long as the insulated ones.

If you have a heated driveway, does an extra $1k matter? What do you do in your garage? Is your garage heated? Do you want to glue a bunch of styrofoam panels to your door? For me, insulated doors were more solid...quieter, and cooler than neighbors uninsulated doors. No dents from kids balls, crashing their bikes, etc. I was not concerned about cold, but working in the garage during the summer, I wanted cooler. Maybe you don’t have a heated driveway, and maybe finances are tight.

Your in Texas and the door faces North. If your looking to save some money this would be a good place to do it. It does not get super cold like in the north, and with a North face it won't get the beating on it. Where in Texas?
