The couch on the left is a pretty good scale, not too big or small, but large enough to lay down on. One white chair would work too. How do you feel about patterned draperies?

Adapt down the rug size here, use a shorter couch and use the orange chair instead of setee. This type of arrangement could work. Maybe just one ottoman.

Now, here's where my opinion sneaks in. I would never suggest or use this size of a coffee table in such a small space. Your table is almost oversized for your room, but I think we could still work with it. Might even be able to size it down a bit, before adding the wooden top.

Open type of slipper chair. Would work for your secondary living room chair. Could easily be used in your loft as well.

Not too bad of scale here in this chair. With cats, you'd probably want to upholster rather than go with leather ??

I want you to note the TABLE here, in referernce to the coffee table top idea you mentioned. The aged wood we have is NOT this thick and it wouldn't be possible to do glued layers with it as it IS aged and not perfectly symetrical. But is this picture the top you have in mind? Aged wood at this thickness will be harder to find (much harder) and probably expensive.

Great style & size chair. Have to always check to make sure they're comfortable though, but if upholstery is padded enough, they are great.

A nice example where what they are using as captain's chairs would be comfortable enough, brought in for temporary seating. This style is relatively easy to find at thrift and garage sales and can really be redone nicely.

A thought. When you have an ottoman with a chair, it also does extra duty as another seat, or a coffee table (with a tray placed on top). This chair is difficult to see, but appears to be a small, barrel style, and could be workable because of the open legs.

You could consider slipcovers for two or all of your dining chairs. If I remember correctly, they are a Klismos style though (very open backed) so we might have to add a little support of some sort, either to the chair back or within the lining of the cover. Those are very nice chairs though, and costly, so it might be wise to work with them.

Lots of stuff here in a very small room. Probably too overdone for your tastes. But just wanted you to note the scale and uses of the various pieces., to get some ideas.

Look at the captains; chair here. A thought for you. What about having 2 of your 4 dining chairs in a bit more upholstered style? Double duty here. They could be easily moved into the living room for extra seating, and as they are seen from your entrance, they would dress up your dining area as well. Also gives you another wonderful opportunity for more interest with textures, patterns and colors.

This style chair might work. It IS a bigger size, but because of the style of arms and open legs, you might be able to pull it off, in just one chair.

You could consider something like this, using two very minimally styled and sized couches. I feel in a small space this limits you even more as far as variance in arrangements and interest, and I would prefer a couch with 1-2 different chairs. But this certainly looks great and could be an option for your room.

Just look at the three small tables in front of the couch. These could be separated and pulled to the side when more people were present. We could design a set that would work with your style preferences. Very versatile pieces which could be taken into any room where needed.
