Hallways
"Draw Attention With Flowers The modern console table in this smart hallway comes to the fore thanks to a vase of pretty, top-lit alliums. This signature piece is a subtle one, at first glance blending in like built-in furniture, tucked precisely under the dado. But the flowers make us notice it more, drawing our eye to its Jenga-like base and bold simplicity. Use floral arrangements to pinpoint your signature item. Try putting them on a fireplace in summer or on a favorite piece of furniture, such as a statement sideboard."
"3. Put extra storage in a hallway or mudroom. These built-in cabinets and drawers make a great place to tuck away backpacks and boots and other everyday necessities, all beautifully hidden behind closed doors. The cork board at the left is also a great place to post a calendar, notices about upcoming events and fun pieces of mail. "
"Another consideration is that walls and floors must be perfectly flat to accommodate large-format tiles. A maximum one-eighth-inch discrepancy over 10 linear feet is acceptable. If there is a greater discrepancy, lippage — meaning that one edge of a tile is higher than the adjacent tile, creating an uneven surface — may occur. So before you commit to this dramatic tile size, have your contractor assess the viability of installing them based on your floor conditions. Some floors may to be too irregular and out of level for a large-format tile to be considered."
"14. White and gold. The color palette of this Dallas home — with its creamy walls, gold lighting fixtures and warm oak floors — brings a gentle glow to the hallway, where the art and chandeliers amp up the sophistication. Wall paint: Sherwin-Williams Creamy SW 7012"
Cute and comforting
Cohesive photo wall “'When I hang photos myself, I use an easy trick,' says Mughannam. 'I arrange the photos on a big sheet of kraft paper. When I have them as I want them, I trace them. I tape the paper to the wall with painter’s tape and use a nail to mark the spot where I want to place my hangers. I take the paper down and nail the hangers into the wall. It works great!'"

"This custom console table was built by Sadler Custom Cabinets. It was originally designated for another area of the home, but Mary realized that it was the perfect fit for the hallway leading to the master bedroom."
