Every nook and cranny in My Le and Rock’s home is maximized, thanks to creative built-ins and cozy cubbies. Located behind the kitchen, the mudroom closet has two closed cupboards that act as a pantry, while simple compartments organize shoes and small accessories. “I find it easier to design in a smaller pace, because you can visualize the entire area in your mind, and it forces you to be creative, making every little corner useful,” says My Le.
Functional Mudroom A wall of built-in storage makes efficient use of space in this family home. “A mudroom should be a pretty space,” says designer Brian Gluckstein. “If it’s designed well, it shouldn’t look messy.” This mudroom is accessed from the side of the house, and a glass door lets in plenty of natural light. The floors are hardy limestone. Gluckstein incorporated a bench within a wall of built-in storage that includes two closets for kids’ coats and sports equipment. Great cubbies made from mdf & painted white. Charging stations/outlet plugs in each cubbyhole. Plus coathooks on sides rather than back of cubby. Would want sliding door though or bifold retracting doors to hide clutter. Or even curtains. Or retractable blinds - maybe with artwork printed on it (one of Andy's outdoor photos?)
For kitchen island bench -a drawer with a bunch of charging cables built into it like this is a good way of hiding electronic crap while charging, keeping benches and general areas around sockets clear and clean. i like it.
