This might be a good compromise as to having place for items to go in side tall cabinet vs on countertop and/or under sinks.

we like the amount of counter space, the cabinet in the middle gives us extra space for items that would go on counter to be placed in hidden cabinet; drawers and cabinet underneath for each of us.
