Despite what others are saying you can totally do this and it will look fine. Vertical only will be way easier. Adding horizontal rails is much more complicated. Use cover panels to frame ends and rip 30” drawer fronts to 2or3” and sandwich them between the boxes vertically. You’ll have two finished edges from one drawer front. Use the left over cut edge rips for spacers toward the back of the cabinet box. Frame the uppers with side panels and horizontal trim laid flat.
