Bedrooms
Protip: Bed in front of the window dilemma. With many small bedrooms, you may be faced with the very basic question of where to put the bed. You may have only one window, or a room where the bed only fits if it's put in front of a window. Fake it out with window panels on either side running all the way up to the ceiling, and leave the bed centered under a roman shade for privacy. The small side tables reveal there's just enough room to sneak by and get in bed, but the window panels make the room look much bigger than it is.
I am impressed by the successful use of three neutrals and only one bright color. I think the brown was utilized as an accent and not as an anchor. Even though I love lots of color, I like this because it won't bog you down. Just have to make sure that your colorful pieces are ones that will stand out during daily use, and not just during staged photographs.
I have been in love with navy blue and burnt orange since high school, but have never been able to figure out how I might be able to pull it off in a bedroom without turning it into a cave by the blue, or a frenetic space that's the opposite of calming with the orange. Taking notes on this one.
Oh I wish I'd managed to do this in my dorm! I was going with bright colors - orange, and teal primarily, but also bright green, dark blue, and red - and the anchor neutral should have been brown... unfortunately, my bookshelves don't really match that, and neither do some of my bins. THIS however achieves it simply.
Look at that statement wall made of wallpaper! Genuis. The twin colorful lamps add a stunning pop of color.
This reminds me of an apartment bedroom I'd once looked at. I like that though the walls are white, the dominant color is red. And the corner bed with drawers is adorable and practical, and sleek so it just tucks right away.
The blue is very evident, but it is not overwhelming and does not appear in any of the large pieces of furniture or in the color of the walls... which would make the color very easy to change.
Rich colors with woodwork is what I'm aiming for for our bedroom.
