this could be a good alternative to the striped stool, as it coordinates with the couch. I picture two of these going underneath a front hall table. It would provide you with a place to put on your shoes and have some extra seating to pull over to wherever if you ended up with a large group at your place.

if you're looking for a neutral rug (one that fits in with the gray sofa without adding a new color to the pallet) I think this is a good option. It is interesting enough to be fresh, but has the tile shapes which feel somewhat familiar to me. The pattern also seems like there are enough variations throughout it that it could cover some stains or discoloration from wear and tear.

moroccan style rugs are all over design magazines right now-- and for good reason. Their simplistic, minimal design makes them modern, but they've been used FOREVER! So-- it's both trendy and traditional. A downside to this rug is you'll have to enforce a no shoe policy or suffer the consequences.
