Reply to: I agree with the suggestions to go for dark accents to sort of make the doors to blend in. If you add accessories in light colours like white/cream/beige, then this will bring out the dark door even more and chances are the accessories won't even be visible. If you add bright colours it will compliment the door and make all this come together. Only saying from my own experience, I wanted to tone down dark furniture by adding light accessories and it looked miserable, then accidentally brought bright colours and it worked wonders.

Reply to: Depends what is the rest of your apartment, the style, dominating colours etc. What is important to you, if its turkish lights, get them first and go from there choosing paintings, runner and other accessories to go with it. If you feel that its actually the paintings that might have the biggest impact to the space then start from paintings and take it from there with other accessories.
