Overall aesthetic
A little too rugged for my taste, but the idea of a striking over-table fixture as a design centerpiece resonates with me...like the blown glass John Pomp fixture in our dining room in Chicago. Extra points if it's made from something repurposed. Maybe a dramatic piece of driftwood that's turned into a fixture?
Absolutely use levers wherever possible, inside and out. Even now, it's easier to open doors when you have your hands full!
