Curtains
Design idea: Ceiling-mounted curtain track. Why: Hide a wall of clothing storage with the sweep of a curtain — a great solution for studio apartments and other small spaces. How: Hang ceiling-mounted curtain tracks along the length of your closet storage wall. Planning tip: Measure carefully before ordering curtains to ensure they are long enough to reach from ceiling to floor — you can always have them hemmed a bit shorter, but if they are too short, there’s not much you can do. 1. Dresser + hanging rod + curtains. Replacing the closet doors with curtains has freed up some much-needed space in this small bedroom, allowing access to every inch of the reach-in closet. The dresser top is put to work too, with a wire storage basket and space for a few pairs of shoes.Best for: Reach-in bedroom closet.See more of this bedroom - hseguinot
For greater flexibility consider pairing a translucent curtain with a separate blackout curtain, mounted back to back. That way you can get either filtered light or total darkness, depending on your needs. The blackout curtain here extends from floor to ceiling and wall to wall, assuring complete darkness while minimizing the presence of the sliding glass doors. Contemporary bedroom in Chicago
HOW TO USE - Framing the room Good curtains will soften the look and feel of a room in a way that no other window treatment will. Curtains can ‘play’ with the proportions of a room, frame a pretty outlook or shield a bad one. Example of a transitional bedroom design in Melbourne with white walls and dark hardwood floors
Block it out - Window treatments can play a crucial role in the temperature control of your home – for only the initial cost of the curtains or blinds. A dual system of a blockout and a sheer layer is an excellent method – you can use both layers on a cool night to lock in the heat and on hot days to block out the heat and strong light. Close the curtains on them. While display is great, direct sunlight can damage shoes, and dust can be tough to get out of fabrics like suede. Hanging a drapery panel in front of the shelves is an elegant solution. This is also a good idea for those who don’t like clutter. By using fabric that matches the wall paint and adding an integrated drapery track, the look is clean, cohesive and keeps the bedroom restful while maintaining easy access to the shoes
