Mud Rooms
Open Shoe storage like this: let's be real, nobody (at least not in my family) is going to take off their shoes and put them neatly in a cubby or open a drawer and slide them inside. Wet/salty/muddy boots won't make their way into a basket or on a wooden platform. Just a hard-wearing tile floor that can be easily cleaned and a space for shoes to get tucked out of the way....Right?
I like this idea of just plain hooks and long open storage up top for flexibility. I'm assuming those bins underneath the bend open up for storage underneath? For shoes? Hats & gloves? Is anyone really going to open up the storage and put their shoes in there on a daily basis though? Maybe they're just decorative....
I like the cubbies, but worry that once they're filled with stuff: coats, boots, backpacks, etc. that they'll look messy . Also, instead of creating "lockers" which seems limiting, why not just pegs/hooks for coats and long shelving across the top? You could accommodate baskets of various widths and not be locked into one size.
