Ein Raum mit großformatigen Fliesen hat eine ganz besondere Wirkung. Einige Hersteller bieten diese in den ausgefallenen Abmessungen von bis zu 300 x 150 cm an. Durch den geringen Fugenanteil entsteht ein äußerst eleganter und exklusiver Gesamteindruck. Auch der hygienische Aspekt ist ein weiterer Pluspunkt: Die großen Flächen lassen sich einfach und komfortabel reinigen. Die Außenkanten an Abmauerungen und Nischen können auch ohne Schienen realisiert werden. Hierzu werden die Fliesenaußenkanten auf Gehrung geschnitten und zusammengefügt. Im Vergleich zu Standardformaten ist die Verlegung bei großen Abmessungen jedoch komplexer und anspruchsvoller und es Bedarf spezieller Maschinen.
