Designed around a previous successful build that was used as a display home. The home was designed by architect Stephan P Kosa & associates in collaboration with the clients and Laurie Anderson to bring together a new concept for its owners ensuring that it was in keeping with the desired theme. The home incorporated solar passive design to ensure as much light would enter the home given its east west orientation. The building process was under the total direction of Laurie Anderson with an extremely tight build schedule. The clients in conjunction with Laurie Anderson put together the total fittings, fixtures and joinery package after the initial design to deliver a clean, modern and desirable outcome that the clients are now enjoying.

A fantastic pair of award winning contemporary homes with sea views in the Conservation Area, Poole. This site, in a prominent location with sunset views over Poole Harbour towards Brownsea Castle and the quay, was occupied by a detached bungalow of no architectural historic merit. As the site is located on the edge of the ‘Harbour Heights Conservation Area’, the brief called for architecturally exceptional, distinctive and exciting focal point buildings in order to gain planning approval.

This contemporary sustainable house enjoys a temperate environment due to the implementation of the main principles of passive design: Capturing North sunlight with adequate screening Allowing cross ventilation through the whole house Installing double glazing with low U value Increasing the insulation in all external and internal walls We were able to maximize the use solar panels by avoiding a pitch roof. These solar panels generate eight kilowatts, which cater for most of the energy needs of the house.
