I contacted Alexander Martin after seeing a review of one of his developments in the local paper. I was proposing to do a major refurbishment of my house but after discussions with Al decided on a total rebuild which has meant that I had been able to build a house of my desire the end result has been quite incredible and far beyond my expectations. He converted a draughty old victorian house into a stunning contemporary home whilst retaining its street cred. I would have no hesitation in recommending Alexander Martin to anybody who is looking for the house of their dreams

Al, Matt & the team are all very professional and easy to work with. There was a lot of equipment to fit into the designs, but we achieved this whilst keeping a refined style. The creative input was invaluable and the end result stunning. Looking forward to our next project together!

Al has worked with us on a several projects and always brings a fresh and creative approach to tackle any design challenge. He does not compromise on looks over functionality. His designs are very practical and comfortable spaces to live in, yet still maintain engaging aspects, special, well thought out details, and interesting lines, which serve to make small spaces feel bigger. Not only that, but it is also wonderful to work with Al. He really listens to the client’s needs, and is able to adapt accordingly without compromising the final design.

We started our build with AMA over a year and a half ago. They were local to our area and felt like a good fit for the project. Right from the start, Al Martin was knowledgeable and organized in helping to arrange surveys, researching and investigating any potential difficulties with the build, and putting together a team of architects and builders to work within our budget. The build involved replacing an existing extension with a new one to create an open plan kitchen/living room, creating a second side extension for a third bedroom, lowering the floors to create higher ceiling height, and gutting and renovating the remainder of the flat which had damp and mold, and was in a state of disrepair. Al and Candelaria took on our ideas and then came up with a design for a practical yet stylish family living space. The plans have all been well laid out, precise and detailed to a high standard. Both architects have been flexible to changes with the design and budget as they have arisen, and have adapted as need be. They have been quick to respond to emails and questions as the build has progressed, and are frequently on site to oversee the build itself. We are looking forward to moving into our new flat in 6 weeks and seeing our vision come together with AMA.

Alexander Martin designed a loft extension for me in 2014. The brief was to create a third floor conversion that felt like you were taking a holiday every time you went up there, but that fitted in, and complimented the existing building which was 139 year old house designed by the Arts & Crafts architect John Voisey. With out going into all the detail Alex managed to create an incredibly dynamic space, that was both classic and contemporary. Highlights include a moving wall that conceals a hidden office and a shower the size of a beach hut. Everything upstairs was bespoke and exactly how my wife and I wanted it to be. We were tuff clients in the sense that we had a very clear vision and Alex was a fine and knowledgeable collaborator. He is also a good bloke. We hired Alexander Martin Architects to redesign our home, which was in total disrepair when we purchased it. We interviewed several different architects and settled on Alexander Martin because of his attention to detail, his eye for possibility and his sensitivity to budget. He was the only architect who had read our survey before attending the site, and he immediately had a good sense of what would work, and what would not pass planning. He helped us select builders and kept on top of costs, which was most helpful. He or a member of his team frequently attended on site, which was invaluable as we were not living in the property at the time and could not inspect progress on a daily basis. Our house is small, but he helped us maximise space while making the list of the house's best features. He also added a few modern features, which are just stunning! I truly feel that we live in a design-driven, but comfortable, homey home. Everyone we have encountered on the team has been professional, responsive, helpful and creatively inspiring. We will absolutely use Alexander Martin architects again.

We commissioned Alexander Martin Architects on the renovation of our period property. Al and his colleagues worked with us closely at each stage of the process and were very responsive and easy to deal with throughout.
