We are sorry you feel you have cause to complain in relation to your own project, despite a working relationship with you on projects we undertook with third parties. However, we do not believe your complaint is justified given all the circumstances, some of which you have failed to refer to. As you will appreciate, we take any complaint seriously and having seen your review we have investigated matters and comment as follows:

•We note that ‘dummy sashes’ were missed from your original specification and quotation, however it is always stated that our quotes are subject to survey and at the time that the survey was carried out, this was picked up resulting in an extra charge which was discussed with you.
•At Clement we take Health and Safety very seriously and are proud to be CHAS accredited. For your project, the original plan was that we would carry out the installation work on the basis that appropriate scaffolding was provided to enable safe working to take place. In that context it is important - and we feel sure you are aware of this as an Architect - that under Health & Safety regulations primary responsibility for safe access and working on any project, including a residential property, rests with the client and that includes the provision of appropriate scaffolding. With your project there was an elevation of the property situated directly on the main road (with no pavement in place) and this required the Highways Department to grant approval for a suitable traffic management system, and this needed to be put in place by you to enable us to carry out installation work. This is something we come across frequently and clients recognise their responsibility and take the appropriate action despite them not having any professional skills in that regard.
•You decided for whatever reason that you were not prepared to organise the appropriate safe access and following a number of discussions, it was agreed that it would be best if we supply the windows and timber frames and that you employed an installer of your choice.
•Our windows were delivered in the way that is standard practice and we also provided guidance on how they should be installed by your chosen installer.
•As we did not install the windows, a FENSA certificate would not be issued.

It is disappointing to hear that you will not be recommending us to anyone in the future, but it is important that any client understands their obligations in relation to Health & Safety. We stand by our decision not to take any risks when it comes to matters of Health & Safety and installation work.
