We recently completed a renovation with Bristol Build, and we couldn’t be happier with the results. Taking on a project of this scale was daunting, especially with our tight timeline and initial concerns about potential budget bloat. However, both Hannah and Dominic were transparent from day one, keeping us updated on costs and ensuring everything aligned with our budget. One standout aspect was the incredible attention to detail shown by every trade on site. The team’s craftsmanship and dedication to quality were evident in every room, and no detail was too small. It was clear that they took pride in their work, which gave us full confidence throughout the process. Despite the demanding time frame, Dom went above and beyond to deliver on schedule without sacrificing quality. Their commitment to finishing the project on time while still achieving such high standards is something we deeply appreciated. We engaged Build Bristol Group (BBG) to extend our ground floor and expand our kitchen/dining space. Initially, we were impressed by their promise of a comprehensive design and build service, managed under one company with access to their extensive network. The estimate provided was detailed and split into various stages which we liked. However, our experience did not align with our expectations. We felt communication was poor, with little proactiveness or attention to detail. For example, despite giving BBG plenty of notice about a £7,000 doors and windows delivery, they failed to show up, leaving the items unattended on our driveway. Multiple Instances like this added unnecessary stress throughout the project. We felt as if we were project managing the build ourselves, coordinating trades, chasing Build Bristol up on different elements of the build —completely the opposite of project management service we expected. The build also faced long delays. The project ended up being significantly delayed, and halfway through, we noticed overspending. Build Bristol were unable to provide a solid reason as to why the project was so over, instead explaining that the quote was an estimate and that this is what often happens with building work. After a lot of abck and forth, BBG eventually created a revised estimate, but this too was overspent. Overall, the build went significantly over budget. Additionally, a lack of care was shown for our property. Steels were left uncovered during bad weather, causing rust stains on the driveway, which have yet to be fixed. An original stained glass door was cracked, alcoves were incorrectly dismantled and skipped, and woodwork outside of the build area was damaged. The snagging list was another source of frustration. Getting BBG to address these items was incredibly difficult. Months later, some snagging issues remain unresolved. On a positive note, the builders on-site were polite. However, our overall experience with Build Bristol was very negative and did not meet our expectations.

The Build Bristol Group were excellent. Their standard of work and attention to detail is very high and when issues arose, they worked with us to resolve them quickly. They are reliable and the company is large enough to enable the builder(s) to be on site throughout, rather than them being moved to other jobs halfway through. Dom and Hannah are both approachable and personable which made the process much easier. We would recommend BBG highly and would use them again.

Green Flare Ltd have worked with Build Bristol Group for around 5 years. We aren’t customers, but have delivered renewable energy solutions for their customers on a number of their projects. They are very well organised and a pleasure to work with, which is so important when assembling and managing a team employees and subcontractors. We instructed The Build Bristol Group for the refurbishment of our 1970’s house. This was a 7-month project involving remodelling of ground floor rooms and the installation of a 5m patio door. The project involved fitting of steels, re- wiring, upgrading the heating system and fitting kitchens and bathrooms. We had new floors throughout. We also re-laid our patio and rechannelled our drains. We commenced October 2021 against a background of the Covid-19 pandemic and the post Brexit supply chain issues. From the outset we found Hannah and Dom to be approachable, accommodating and professional in their approach. The process of initial quotation, contracts and then weekly invoicing was open and transparent and proceeded without any hitches. We used a few of our own contractors for some aspects of the job and found Dom happy to communicate with others and to work with them. Dom visited daily and was proactive in making sure the job kept moving at pace and we did not appear to have any ‘supply chain’ problems that we had been reading about in the press. The team of labourers worked hard and were timely and tidy. They were caring and respectful in their approach, and although English was not their first language we seemed to get along OK! The men had good general building skills. We were impressed with the quality of the structural work and the attention to detail of the woodwork and finishes. We did have issues with Covid amongst the workforce, and when Hannah and Dom were particularly busy communication was difficult at times. Liaising with 3rd parties was also sometimes difficult and this created some problems on site, but this is inevitable on a large job such as this and frustrations were addressed and resolved to our satisfaction. We were ‘over time’ and therefore over budget by the end of our project but this was openly discussed, and we came to a fair resolution. It also took some time to get our final snagging list signed off, again partly due to illness causing scheduling difficulties. The challenges we met during the build were to be expected in the current climate but there was a resolve and determination to overcome obstacles and adaptations were made. Overall, we were extremely pleased with the work done and remain very pleased with our final result. We very much enjoyed working with Dom, Hannah and the team. We hired Build Bristol to undertake a large rear/side extension to our 1930s semi-detached house. Our next door neighbours had previously used them and recommended them to us. From the initial meeting, we felt confident that they would be able to meet our expectations and design wants/needs. The process ran as smoothly as it could (nothing ever runs totally to plan!) and the team were always prompt, tidy and polite. Living in a building site for a number of months is a considerably stressful experience, so they did everything they could to minimise this for us. It was great to have regular invoices/communication about the status of the project and the progression of it. We altered a few things to the initial plans and this was dealt with well. We did have an issue with the glazing company we chose to make and install our windows/doors, so the Build Bristol team had to step in and install it themselves. We were grateful of this and whilst there were challenges with resolving this initially, everything turned out ok in the end! We have also been grateful for aftercare of the project when we have had a couple of teething problems. The build is now so wonderful to live in, all the stress has melted away and we feel very fortunate to have such a beautiful space to call home.

We enlisted The Build Bristol Group to undertake a full renovation and extension of our 1930’s house we purchased in 2020. The house hadn’t been updated for 40 years! Build Bristol suggested Thomas Speed a Bristol based Architectural Drawer for plans to maximise the footprint of the existing house. My sister is a wheelchair user and as she stays with us from time to time we needed a ground floor wetroom and some doors moved to maximise space. We wanted our children to have a playroom and for us to have a lovely sitting room as well as a large open plan kitchen/diner. We also renovated the 1st floor housing 3 bedrooms, a home office and a family bathroom. We are so pleased with the finished result! It hasn’t been easy undertaking a project of this size during the last 12 months with Covid but the team were so easy to have around on a daily basis they worked so hard, were polite and anything we requested was done! Dom is on site daily to instruct the team and has helped oversee external tradesman. Hannah is happy to help on anything interior wise and come up with suggestions where needed. They’ve transformed our out of date house to a modern spacious family home for us to enjoy for many years to come. We’ve already recommended them to several friends.

We have work with Build Bristol Group on various projects where we have supplied the Electrical Contract, their attention to detail is second to none as well their dedication to complete the contract to the clients requirements, I would highly recommend using the Build Bristol Group as a contractor.
