Tom Mullally and MAAD Architects were brilliant. We wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them. Our project was an interior and exterior restoration of a large grade II listed 200 year old seafront apartment (we were derelict and back to brick with only a shell to work with when MAAD came onboard). We needed new electrics, plumbing, doors, windows, kitchen, bathrooms, floors, radiators, plaster - the lot. Tom supported us throughout the project. Drawings were completed promptly, and MAAD happily made any revisions needed. During the tender process for the build firm, MAAD were invaluable at building out the scope of works and negotiating with trades. With the design, we felt Tom was strong at the details and considered our lifestyle and needs, as well as respecting the heritage of the building. We’re so happy with the end result, and there are so many special touches that were influenced by Tom. We’ve come in only a smidge over budget and this was due to us upgrading finishing material choices. After working with a few different firms previously, MAAD are by far the most thoughtful, resourceful, and intuitive architects in Kent. Working with Tom was a positive experience from start to finish. Highly recommended!

Having recently used Maad for our house's complete internal redesign, we highly recommend their services. Tom worked with us on the extension in our detached house in South London. Although based in Broadstairs, Tom was gracious enough to travel to our home during the consulting process to bring our rudimentary ideas to fruition. It was - in our opinion - not an easy design because we wanted to stay away from a standard "let's square it up and make a gigantic kitchen/diner/lounge space". Tom took the time to understand our needs - two small, active dogs who loved the garden and one 12-year old boy whose cricket / hockey equipment took up a lot of space. Our large garden had to be integral to the design. The extension itself was incidental as the house was large enough and the main as was to create a living space for the five of us and make the space as functional as possible. His design is ergonomic, very intuitive and took into account EVERYTHING on our wishlist. We loved that he picked up the implicit asks and, of course, his first draft blew our collective minds. Some aspects that has really set the design apart are: - The creation of an angular, large picture window to catch the setting sun in the open space - Extensive benching inside and outside - we originally thought it could be part of the dining set up, but currently it works in addition to the dining room. - The inside/outside seating is brilliant. Slide the large window open and it becomes an extended seating area. A small step in the dining room allows us to access the outside patio, in addition to the large bifold doors and step outside. - Crittal doors separating the original sitting room from the open dining space adds a huge amount of character to the space. - The new patio also merges beautifully with the design making it a lovely continuous space. - Our old kitchen has been smartly converted into a small library and study with space carved out for a cloak room (to house our son's extensive sporting paraphernalia). We have been lucky enough to have a builder who has been able to translate that vision into something even better than we could ever imagine.

Tom is organised, punctual, helpful and fun to work with. It was the first time for us to undertake a large construction project on our house (loft conversion), and I can't image how we could have done without Tom. He is also very keen on eco-friendly style of architecture. He gave us a lot of interesting ideas of how we can manage the construction with sustainable and ecological resources within our badget. We would highly recommend him.

We were delighted with the work provided by Tom at MAAD. He understood exactly what we wanted to achieve with a downstairs renovation to include open plan kitchen/diner, pantry, utility room and downstairs toilet and shower. A smaller upstairs project was also drawn up. Tom took us through a successful planning application. Tom was quick to respond to any queries. We highly recommend MAAD and wouldn’t hesitate to use them again in the future should the need arise.

I can't rate Thomas highly enough and after a previous experience with lack luster unenthusiastic architect my faith in the profession has been totally restored. Thomas is diligent, professional and full of new innovative ideas. His enthusiasm whilst working on our project was only matched by his tenacity when dealing with local council planning officials and navigating his way through the abundance of official planning correspondence needed theses days . Thomas was able to secure us planning permission for our project and has supported us at every stage throughout this process to where we can now instruct building contractors. He explains the whole process in easy to understand terminology and is a quick to respond to questions and queries whenever they arise. I can highly recommend Thomas Mullally and will be keen to use his services again in the future for further upcoming projects.

Our kitchen was a particularly difficult project. We had met a number of architects and some ran from the idea. Other ideas didn't suit or seemed unworkable. From contacting Tom to the beautiful finished product we have felt nothing but assured and confident that we had chosen the right architect. He took time to understand us, the funky layout of our kitchen and realised a plan that has been truly life changing. That he was on hand to deal with any issues that cropped up was an added bonus. Mullally Architecture and Design designed a front veranda for me, a first for my area of London. They took care of all planning requirements and oversaw the construction. They are a creative yet practical in design and a friendly, approachable and thoroughly professional firm. I hope for an opportunity to work with Tom again and recommend his firm 100%.
