Perioli Man Architects

We worked with all 3 members of the practice on a significant refurbishment of our home in Oxford in 2022/3 lasting for about 6 months. We found them all to be very professional, knowledgeable and delightful to work with. The project involved gutting the house and converting it to a near-passive house (installation of air source heat pump, solar panels, triple-glazed windows and external insulation). Tom Man, who was the lead architect and project manager on our project, significantly improved the appearance of the house (both front and rear elevations) and introduced more light into the house. Tarusha Nuttall-Smith designed the doors and joinery and had a brilliant command of the detail involved in bringing the project to a successful conclusion. We also benefited greatly from Sarah Man's advice and her contribution on various aspects of the project. Co-ordination between their team was excellent. The practice managed the relationship with our builders and other people involved in the project very well. From our point of view this made for a pleasant and efficient experience. Two years on we are still delighted with our house and would highly recommend the firm.

We were very lucky to have Perioli Man Architects. We used them to have a ground floor kitchen extension and reconfiguration and complete renovation of the rest of the house. They were excellent from start to finish. They were excellent in all areas from the overall design, structural aspects and planning, down to helping make decisions about handles and light switches. Also importantly connecting us with excellent builders. They were very responsive to any of our ideas and questions and were happy to adapt to things when we wanted. We would highly recommend them.

We chose these architects after extensive local enquiries and a thorough look at completed and ongoing work that included talking to present and previous clients. Throughout our project their vision and understanding of it, clear thinking and willingness to adapt and listen to our changing thoughts made the final result fantastic. They pointed us in the direction of better architectural choices and advised where we should look for doors/flooring/etc. We were delighted that they were our project managers which took out much of the stress. All the time cheerful, attentive and excellent in follow through and after care. They complement each other’s skills brilliantly.

Tom and Sarah were a great team for us - complementary and both so easy to work with. They recommended the builder, supervised the project, built a great relationship with us that showed they understood our concerns, interests and tastes and went far beyond the call of duty, helping out with all sorts of random requests we threw at them. Always good natured and diplomatic, they also became a source of counsel and advice for dealing with the tradesman, or the authorities. Nearly three years after we finished the work with them I still consult them about details, repairs, or new ideas for things we are doing in the house and they are always helpful. If we were to do any further building work, I would not hesitate in going straight to them again.

We’ve worked with Sarah on a number of projects now and have found her a pleasure to collaborate with. Communication and exchange of ideas is really easy - she’s responsive and has great ideas as well as a good working knowledge of local planning constraints. We really appreciate her ability to take on board our desired outcomes for each project and to make adjustments as required. Her ability to liaise with local authorities is a real bonus and we wouldn’t hesitate to recommend her!

Perioli Man have designed a very lovely and interesting extension for us together with undertaking/overseeing a full service construction contract. We are extremely pleased with the outcome and the result has modified our home to our best advantage. Moreover, it has added spaces of beauty and light, far from the quotidian. We are very happy and delight in the result every day.
