About Us

Spatial Design Architects is a RIBA chartered practice located in Essex in the east of England, we specialise in contemporary bespoke residential family homes, apartments, mixed use projects and commercial developments. Our work undertakes discussions on interventions and opportunities that the land/buildings could achieve. We help you understand your desires and bring them to life, through our design, detail and deliver process. For 20 years our architecture has been progressive and explored many forms, materials, and sustainable solutions, underlined with our ethos on professionalism, quality, experience, and design. Our passion is making lives better, wrapped within our architecture and interior spaces, we care about design, the reaction it creates and its connection to urban streetscape and countryside settings. Our portfolio provides an insight into our current projects and projects we have delivered for residential and commercial clients since 2002.

Brendon Robins and his team had to manage an extensive planning process which cycled through multiple variations of the cantilevered structure designed to echo the typical local black dutch barn style in a modern, open-plan home sitting above gabion clad concrete containing my workshop/garage and utilities. Communication was excellent and even more important during Covid as I couldn't visit the construction site frequently. I am grateful for the eye he has for combinations of materials and for his willingness to listen to and respond to my quirky ideas. In the end he persuaded me to choose what would work and I'm very happy living there. Great result, thanks SDA.

We commissioned SDA to advise on a whole house renovation with extension. After an in-depth consultation and listening to our requirements they set off with some proposals. What we received blew us away - designs we hadn’t imagined and the use of space maximised fully. The project was completed, and we were more than just satisfied. Shaun and Brendan kept us up to date and we’re always accessible for queries. Highly recommend SDA.

From the initial design concepts through to the final product Spatial Design Architect were spot on. They went above and beyond to create something that we all could be proud of. Spatial Design Architects designed, and project managed our full refurbishment and enlargement of our 1950's chalet style house. We required 3 areas of the house to be designed, an en-suite extension to the existing master bedroom, study and play room space and increasing the size of our lounge whilst adding a further bedroom. We required a design that was different and we are thrilled with the contemporary design, flow of the space and connection with the garden, that allows us to enjoy every part of our home for many years to come. An extremely helpful and professional team throughout the process, I cannot recommend them enough. Thank you, Spatial Design Architects.
