About Us

A house without a well designed garden is like a story without an ending; never wholly satisfying. A great garden compliments a house and its owners, providing colour, interest and an ever changing backdrop that is an essential part of one’s home. I believe that gardens and their surrounding landscapes play a vital role in their ability to bring calm and perspective to our busy lives. The space around your house, no matter how large or small, should be somewhere you want to spend time, a peaceful place that you can go at the end of a busy day. Your garden is an extension of your home, a haven in which to relax and enjoy time on your own or to entertain friends and family. Whatever the individual challenges of your garden, I would be delighted to help you achieve the garden you have always wanted. I have always had a creative background, originally training as a Graphic Designer at Central St Martins. Since then I have worked for a variety of creative and innovative companies in the fields of design, illustration, marketing and operations. After settling down to have a family, my love of gardens and design came together when I took a Diploma in Garden Design at the highly regarded Garden Design School. I graduated with a distinction in 2009, winning the Student of the Year Award. Following my graduation I designed an award-winning Therapeutic Show Garden at The Royal Hampton Court Flower Show in 2010 for the charity Combat Stress. The garden was awarded a Silver Medal. Since then I have been running Fi Boyle Garden Landscape Design & Consultancy, based in the southwest of England at Stourhead in Wiltshire. Whilst much of my work is in Dorset, Somerset, Hampshire and Wiltshire, my work often takes me to London and the Home countries and further afield. I now also teach at the Garden Design School on the same diploma course that started my own journey.

Fi recently remodelled our small London garden, we couldn't be happier with the results. From the beginning, Fi was professional and carefully listened to our ideas taking into account the differences my husband and I had for the new garden - he wanted wild and I wanted structured! Fi offered helpful suggestions based on our thoughts and the size of the plot. The initial consultation was thorough, full of interesting ideas and the design recommendations and planting plan perfectly suited our small garden. Fi managed to give both my husband and me a garden we love, despite our differences! Fi began with professional design drawings. The work began as planned and was completed efficiently, with no disruption. Fi revamped the space changing the bed layout by adding beautiful and interesting plants, using some of our existing ones and creatively complimenting them with lots of new ones. She created a seating area, BBQ area and managed to incorporate a fire pit. The attention to detail was evident, with every corner of the garden thoughtfully considered. Fi managed the ordering, contractors and planting. The transformation is remarkable – our garden feels larger, more inviting, and a peaceful retreat right in the heart of London. The plants are thriving, and we now have a wonderful space to relax in. Overall, I highly recommend Fi for anyone looking to transform their outdoor space. Her professionalism, creativity, and hard work have truly brought our garden to life.

Fi is an incredibly talented garden designer. She has a superb knowledge of plants and knows how to bring the clients ideas to life. I have used Fi for two garden projects in London; transforming what were rather grotty London gardens into elegant and inviting spaces. Being a London garden, as we were limited at both houses with space, I wanted both gardens to become "another room" from the house and to create a feeling of further space off the kitchens. My brief also included: enhancing the privacy from neighbours; bringing in colour in all season; winter structure to look out on and most importantly a place to host guests. Fi achieved this incredibly well through pleached trees for privacy, soft planting and effective use of climbers and colour. I can highly recommend Fi - her ideas a fresh and exciting and you won't be disappointed.

Fi has been so wonderful to work with, from the initial brief we discussed, how we could transform my overgrown dilapidated half acre garden on a 1 in 3 slope near a Freshford. Fi then prepared detailed topographical plan which included all the features I had asked for and more. She then helped with finding our wonderful garden team who did a magnificent job in turning Fi plan into the delightful garden it is today. Along the way Fi completed an amazing planting plan which we are now enjoying its second season. I can’t recommend her more highly.

Flower Garden

Fi designed and project managed our new garden and we couldn’t be more thrilled with the result. Fi, very quickly understood the kind of look that we were after - in fact we hardly changed the design from her first ever sketch. It is exactly what we wanted and in fact, exceeds our expectation. The planting is extremely skilful and we had colour and interest the whole year. It completely matched the simplicity and elegance of the rill. She had great attention to detail and was very hands on during the construction of the garden.

From first meeting Fi, her passion and ideas were so impressive. Fi instantly knew what would work in our garden and she left us waiting in eager anticipation for her plans. The plans alone are a work of art and both my husband and I found working with Fi an absolute joy! We broke our plans into sections and Fi made this an easy task, organising delivery of groups of plants with planting guides that were easy to follow. In addition Fi made suggestions in regard to creating a swimming pond to suit our budget and made it work beautifully. It was the incredible arrival of all the plants in Spring, when we realised just how special Fi's design is. Utterly breathtaking plant design, and every time we step outside we love everything even more! We just cannot recommend Fi highly enough. Fi is a wonder!

I couldn't recommend Fi Boyle more highly - she took a square piece of concrete and turned it into the prettiest of low-maintenance gardens and all with very little involvement from us! She ran the whole show, site visited at regular intervals, wrote a gorgeous planting plan and supplied and planted all plants. Since then she has kept a helpful eye on the garden's progress and supported us in maintaining it. Her enthusiasm made the whole project fun but she was also supremely professional and brought the job in on budget and on time. She's fabulous!

Fi, is a talented garden designer who transformed our London garden into a stunning city haven. Fi, was fantastic at every stage from the design, discussing all options clearly and keeping within budget, to providing detailed planting costs and overseeing the landscapers whilst the project progressed until completion. We are delighted with our London garden and I have since become an enthusiastic gardener because of the inspiring planting and beautiful layout Fi designed! When a large oak tree on our front lawn split down the middle and had to be taken down, it unbalanced that whole area of the garden. So, after 30 years we decided to take the opportunity to have the garden reshaped and redesigned. We were so lucky to find Fi whose design not only pulled the whole garden together but was so perfect for us that we didn’t want to change any part of it. Fi took note of all our likes and dislikes in design and planting right from the start and choose plants that coped with our rather difficult conditions (a fiost pocket on heavy clay), also introducing us to new plants and varieties. She was great fun to work with, happy to chat on the phone or answer emails. The result speaks for itself - we couldn’t recommend her more highly.

Fi is that rare person who not only has a wonderful eye for design, a passion for and deep knowledge of plant; but really listens to and works with her clients. Added to which she is a real grafter and will roll up her sleeves and help with planting. We have been clients of hers since she started and although she has moved on to bigger and better projects she treats us just as she always did. She is a gem and we highly recommend her.

Commented: How does it work?Hi Victoria, the water flows around the whole pool including both the swim zone and the regeneration zone. Having a swim zone means you can keep that area clean which is perfect for the more squeamish...
