Refined Trades

We were very pleased with our project with our project with Johnathan. Both the end result and the process were pleasant from beginning to end After moving into a 25 year old apartment we found our surfaces were showing their age so we decided to exchange the cabinet and wardrobe doors Also, we had a Murphy bed situation that needed a cabinet made to measure. Johnathan was really good at transparently pricing all the different parts of the project so we could have staged it into phases if necessary. We were comfortable leaving him in the apartment while we were away and he left all very clean behind. He also organized collection of the old doors.

We hired Refined Trades for a range of carpentry work throughout our home, and couldn’t be happier with the results. He built a beautiful free-standing bar cabinet, bespoke built-in wardrobes, and did several smaller ad hoc jobs like shelving in our laundry room. Everything was completed to a very high standard, the craftsmanship is excellent, and his attention to detail really shows in the finished work. He worked quickly but never compromised on quality. The place was always left clean and tidy at the end of each day, which we really appreciated. Overall, he delivered great value for money: fast, reliable, skilled, and professional. Highly recommend!

Jonny delivered a quality product in a tight timeframe for us, converting a small bedroom into a study. He was able to help out with our design concerns along the way (when we discovered our initial ideas might not quite work!) and we would definitely recommend him.

Jonathan - not just a carpenter but also a painter, upholster and was able to install lighting in everything he built for me and install new blinds I had made. He built an incredibly robust bunk bed into my son’s bedroom. He also upholstered the headboard with material I sourced and painted it. He also built a wardrobe with 3 built in drawers and painted our study! Have already recommended Jonathan to my neighbours.

Working with Refined Trades has been an absolute pleasure! Jonathan has made several units for us: under stairs cupboards, alcove cupboards, a beautiful shelving unit and a complete fit out of a utility room. Refined Trades did a great job for us - very clean and delivered ahead of schedule. Really pleased with the result - in addition to a bespoke bookcase to replace our bannister the guys fitted a series of floating shelves in two rooms, redid our hallway / coat room and built 4 bespoke alcove cupboards allowing us to maximise space throughout the house. Jonny and his team did a fantastic job for us. They renovated the whole house including removing walls and structural work, fitting a kitchen, building bespoke fitted furniture and re-decorating every room. The joinery in particular was competed to a very high standard, as was the rest of the work. Jonny is always very responsive and a pleasure to deal with. We wouldn’t hesitate to ask him to work for us again in future.

Jonny was recommended to me by a friend and he did not disappoint! He came over to do a quote and helped us understand what was possible, his advise was great and we're really happy with the end result. We had floor to ceiling wardrobes in our bedroom and cabinets and shelves with LEDs in the alcoves in our living room. Both were finished to a high standard and within the timeframe set out before the work started. Jonathan Graham was recommended to me by a friend, and I am so glad they did. He came when agreed, punctual and friendly to quote for a bespoke fitted kitchen. I didn’t really know exactly what I wanted but after some discussion he came back with excellent suggestions and design ideas. We went ahead and are so pleased with how it turned out. The kitchen is out of this world! I can’t speak highly enough of his craftsmanship and professional approach. Thoroughly recommend!

Johnathan made from a work that could have been outstanding an have a fabulous review just an "ok" review. He lacks of any communication skills and ability to deal with issues. He did a bespoke wardrobe for us. This is because of the following issues experienced during the works were taking place and how Jonathan faced them: 1-After exchanging more than 20 emails and clear detail drawings agreed by the two parties involved. Jonathan ignored a note saying "All external parts in rose canopy sprayed paint". Once he was on site with all the external open shelves to the right of the cupboard in oak venner finished rather than painted. He tried to challenge as that open shelves are still internal just after a long discussion we agreed to paint them by hand - which did not reach the same finished than in the rest of the external wardrobe areas. He was asked to give more layers of paint wich could have help as the sprayed parts has 6 layers and the hand parts only 3 but he refused. That was very unexpected since drawings were very clear on this point. 2- PIR LED light did not work at all when he finished the work and we refused to come back to repair them. even though we hold a small percentage of the total payment (%5). Finally he came 1 MONTH later to repaired them and it took 1 week more to have them working. 3- after all this hassle he could not wait even 24h for us to pay the remaining 5% (£150 out of £3000) and he cam to our home to threaten us to pay. After the above I will NOT recommend Johnathan if you would like to deal with a responsive and friendly trade person. There is in the market similar local trades in Acton with similar prices and much more responsive.

Jonny built two lovely fitted cupboards for us to help maximise storage space. He has great ideas on design and use of space and is a pleasure to work with.

Jonny did an incredible job installing wood panelling into our daughter’s bedroom. We were going to get the bedroom plastered initially, but Refined Trade recommended panelling instead. We are so glad we took their advice as the overall finish, with Farrow and Ball paint, is beautiful and modern whilst sympathetic of our Victorian home. Jonny also put up some shelves and did some garden landscaping for us, installing flower beds and permanent sandstone seating, it too looks fantastic. Would highly recommend!

Jonathan is two things that are rather rare these days: a craftsman and a gentleman. He has done a number of jobs for me including a bike cupboard, shelves, draughtproofing and re-hanging doors. He approached each job, regardless of size, with enthusiasm and thoughtfulness. His pricing was reasonable and he was clear about any extras. He's polite and professional.

I had two wardrobes installed and some shelving made. Jonathan at Refined Trades provided a excellent service. The wardrobes were bespoke and built to a high quality, the price was competitive too.
