Highly recommended. Nick has great experience and knowledge of what to look out for when designing a home, what could work, and what doesn't. He was invaluable for spotting and asking things we hadn't thought of ourselves, and providing a perspective different from our own on various decisions. He is also very practical and can give advice not just on how to imagine a room, but also how best to get things done - it was this part of his approach, evident on his website, that prompted me to contact him in the first place. We initially asked for just some high-level thoughts and a simple room visualisation, and came to rely on him more as we learned what he could offer. Nick is patient, pleasant, and thoughtful, and so has been a pleasure to work with.

I hit very lucky. If I said he was good it would be an understatement. He is outstanding. I’ve been renovating houses for 33 years and he consistently came up with more and better ideas than me. Very easy to deal with.

We are thrilled with our new, open-plan kitchen-dining-living space, and are pleased to write this testimonial on the way that Nick Prescott at Style Within helped us with this project. Our original open-plan kitchen-diner was limited by a structural wall that separated off an additional living space. We knew that we could make this more functional by removing the wall, but needed advice on how to go about it. When we met with Nick he was able to talk through the various stages of the project with us in a clear and logical way. He enabled us to understand how it could be achieved and gave us confidence in his ability to help us deliver the outcome we were looking for. Having described our basic requirements to Nick, he produced floorplans with options, and approximate budgets. He showed us plans that would work (and those that wouldn’t) with 3D visuals that really helped us to see how the room could look. He demonstrated efficient use of space, re-orientating furniture and modifying existing storage. We set Nick the challenge of finding a practical solution for our music, laptop, printer and internet connectivity, for which he designed a small home network with wires hidden away neatly. We were also impressed with Nick’s various trade contacts who carried out the work, which included a craftsman-designed timber breakfast bar to complement our granite worktop. We found Nick to be extremely reliable and always on hand to answer any questions that we had and would recommend Nick and his team with confidence. We are particularly pleased with the flexible lighting design which has really brought the room to life. We can now welcome friends to a more comfortable and flexible space and have already held a drinks party for 12 and a musical rehearsal, neither of which would have been possible before this project!

We are particularly grateful to Nick Prescott at Style Within for creating a new design for our teenage son’s bedroom, and for overseeing its remodelling, decoration and furnishing. It was really great just to let him design and manage everything for us. Recommended by friends, we asked Nick to come up with ideas for a number of rooms, for which he produced floorplans, 3D visuals and approximate budgets. We decided to go forward initially with just the bedroom design. We visited his home to see how he had developed his own son’s bedroom (very similar in size and shape to ours), using efficient storage solutions, and bold colours. He suggested removing the chimney breast, which freed up a remarkable amount of space, and then created a floorplan to show what would be possible using 3D visuals. He demonstrated how the space could be used more efficiently, re-orientating the bed, and introducing other features that would give our son plenty of storage and functionality. With several layout options to choose from, our son chose his favourite. Looking to keep down cost, Nick was happy to revisit the design to find cheaper, off the shelf products to fit the floorplan. Having identified various furniture ideas, he sent us illustrations and catalogue references, and brought carpet and paint samples for us to choose from. He engaged a structural engineer for the building control calculations and drawings and wrote the technical specification for the contractor to price against. Once everything was agreed, he oversaw the contractors and coordinated delivery of furniture and furnishings, whilst we engaged our regular decorator. He was even happy to help to assemble all the furniture. There were a few issues with the furniture delivery (some damage and missing parts) which Nick sorted out promptly, and we weren’t particularly inconvenienced by these. He is clearly keen to delight his clients and doesn’t waiver in his pursuit of perfection. Our son now has a newly styled bedroom which he loves (sorry that he didn’t go for the graffiti feature wallpaper – but the wall cubes are great!). We have to say that this was a largely painless renovation, cared for by Nick and his contractors, and we’d be delighted to recommend the interior design and project management services of Style Within.

I Wanted to thank Nick at Style Within for is help in designing our new 5 bedroom modern house we are about to start building in Thailand, I gave him some basic concepts and he turned these in to 3D models. To start with he produced 4 designs and we actually liked his modern design which we had not thought of at all. We spoke with our builders in Thailand who said garaging storage / flooding floor and keep to 1 living floor above. so nick keeping the model design redid all the rooms in to one floor. we spent a lot of time on detail and nick came up with very good ideas. i Think we have pushed him hard for many changes but never moaned just got on and sorted out all our needs, We shall be using Nick through out the build process for electrical and Plumbing and help with his excellent ideas in design we have a 5 year plan to build complete with furnishings, Large garden design etc so plenty of time to keep Nick busy. and look forward to working with him over this project. We are absolutely delighted with our extended, open plan kitchen diner and would highly recommend the design and project management of Nick Prescott at Style Within. Having decided that we wanted to extend our existing kitchen to create an open plan kitchen diner, we discussed the prospect of a joint project with our adjoining neighbours, who were also keen on a similar build. We were familiar with Nick’s work and met with him to discuss the possibilities for a joint build. We then both engaged Style Within for the design phase and Nick took a detailed brief. He produced several design options including 3D models, which helped us see how each would work. We decided on a similar external design for each property, whilst internally Nick took our briefs and produced different designs to accommodate our differing requirements. Drawings were produced for planning approval by the Council and Style Within oversaw architect and structural engineer drawings for building control and construction and wrote the technical specification. Nick carried out a tender assessment and managed the tendering process and a contractor was collectively agreed. We asked Nick to project manage the work – it was important for us for him to see the renovation through from design to completion. He kept us up to date with progress, helping us to make final decisions when required (kitchen units, splashbacks, wall colour, etc.), brought samples to us of flooring, worktop, splashback etc. Temporary kitchens were installed in both properties – with five children between us, we were keen to minimise disruption to family life! Throughout the whole build Nick coordinated the activities of our builder and other suppliers (made sure key elements like glass and kitchen fitted in with construction), spending many hours on site and with suppliers. His negotiations and trade discounts saved us money, he calculated the percentage of work complete to justify monthly payments to contractors, kept us up to date with financial situation and stuck to our original budget. We had practical use of our new space pretty much on schedule; with some minor ongoing works being dealt with efficiently. We are delighted with our new space which completely meets our brief for a multi-functional, family social space. It was a pleasure to work with Nick, who managed the whole project with total professionalism throughout.

I would like to thank Nick for his very hard work over the past 3 years. I first asked him to renovate my separate toilet and bathroom and he managed to design a scheme which brought the two together. He showed me perspective views of how the room would look and brought samples of all the finishes to show me. He was very sympathetic to my needs and wishes and produced a beautiful bathroom design giving the ordinary a real wow factor which his contractors fitted with care and skill. He then refurbished my hallway with eye-catching furniture and new lights and made a hanging mobile for me from spheres and shapes that I had purchased from an artist. I then asked Nick to renovate my kitchen and bathroom in my holiday flat. The flats were built in the 70s and mine was unchanged since then. Nick managed to pack my small kitchen with many useful appliances and lots of storage without making it feel at all cramped. It is now a delight to work in and much easier to clean than the old kitchen. All of my neighbours are very jealous. He then redesigned the bathroom, replacing the bath with a beautiful large walk-in shower. A washing machine and tumble drier were fitted into a lockable cupboard and again the space is easy to use and to clean. The electric underfloor heating is wonderful. I have now asked Nick to design my bedroom in the flat to give me something luxurious when I stay there. As usual Nick has shown exceptional patience in helping me to decide the right combination of fabrics, colours and carpet. I would recommend Nick and his contractors to anyone and am glad to show his work to friends and neighbours.

We'd just like to thank Nick and his team for the marvelous job in renovating our rather tired family bathroom. It has been transformed into a light, stylish and attractive room, more in keeping with the rest of the house. After previous DIY efforts had proved rather unspectacular, we felt we needed some professional input if we were to achieve the effect we wanted. Having spoken to previous clients and seen examples of other bathroom renovations that Style Within had carried out, we were impressed with the quality of design and workmanship and decided to engage them. What we really enjoyed about Nick's approach was his attention to detail, mixed with a creativity and a warm sense of humour; we felt guided in our decision-making but never pressured into a choice that wasn't really ours. The work on the bathroom involved a rethink of the space in order to maximise its usefulness. As we were unsure about whether we should retain or remove the bath, Nick suggested fitting a shower/bath which has proved a great choice as it's given a better shower experience but retained the possibility of a relaxing bath when time permits! The face-lift involved a new colour scheme for tiles, walls and floor and Nick was patient and thorough helping us to find the right combination, returning frequently with samples that allowed us to have a clear idea of what the final design would look like. The work was managed by Nick and was completed promptly and within the agreed budget and we were kept informed at all stages of the process. Great care was taken to ensure that were not inconvenienced during the works and mess and disruption were kept to a minimum. The result was a hassle free experience leading to a super new bathroom without any unwelcome 'surprises' along the way. I'd recommend Style Within to anyone thinking of renovation work who either needs some creative input (don't we all!) or is concerned about keeping control of their project - in both these areas Nick and his team excel.

Excellent job by Style Within (again!) We were extremely happy with the service received from Style Within for our bathroom design so we didn't hesitate to use them again for the larger project of our kitchen. The kitchen was old and out dated, but needed more than a replacement of cupboards and flooring, it needed a whole redesign and a new boiler. Nick took time to understand what we wanted from the kitchen and challenged our ideas to make sure we had thought them through - offering plenty of good options. Once Nick knew what we were after he provided 3 quotes. One with all the top of the range products and everything on the wish list, one with the most important things on the wish list and mid range products - and one in between. The quotes were laid out in such a way that we could cherry pick from each of them and easily see how much each element would cost. Nick always offered options to enable us to keep to budget, where we did decide to spend more was always our choice. The project was all within the time frame given by Nick and he kept us informed every step of the way. The inconvenience was kept to a minimum - despite the new boiler we were never without water or heating We end result is a lovely kitchen we enjoy being in! We have already recommended Style Within to freinds and neighbours, and would continue to do so without hesitation.

We have worked on several high specification projects with Style Within and found Nick and team to be extremely skilled, creative and customer attentive. We would like to thank Nick Prescott (Style Within) and the team of workers that he engaged, for the excellent work done, revamping our old, tired bathroom. Our small bathroom had not been updated for a number of years and still had the original 1970’s avocado green suite. Style Within had previously renovated a friends’ bathroom and we were impressed by the layout of the design and high quality of the finish. She couldn't speak highly enough of the professionalism of Nick and his team. After initial consultations with Nick where he gathered information about our requirements, budget and tastes, he produced a draft layout. He explained this in full, with the aid of samples, examples and photographs. He also made suggestions for alternatives to cover different budget options. All the way through the process, Nick had an active role (we opted for the Project Management) and was on site to oversee the builders, electricians and delivery of materials. Disruption was kept to a minimum, bearing in mind the amount of work to be done. During the initial discussions, Nick explained his costs very clearly and the different options that were available to us. We asked him to produce a design and when we saw that, we also asked him to carry out the project management on our behalf. We agreed a fixed price for the job, (which was actually reduced in the end, as Nick was able to source a couple of items for us, at a lower price) and an agreed time limit. This was kept to and the builders worked extremely hard during their time here and were very considerate with regards to noise and disruption. They concentrated solely on our job, until it was completed. The new layout of our bathroom has been wonderful and allowed us to benefit much more from the small space that we have. A lot of the ‘special features’ such as the lighting in the niches, under floor heating, specific colour scheme and alternative lighting available, depending on mood and requirements, have been a joy to use. Using the bathroom is no longer a quick shower and out, it is now a pleasure to soak in the bath whilst looking around and enjoying the ambiance that Nick has created for us. We would highly recommend Nick to design a room for anyone and trust his judgement for style and attention to detail to produce a fantastic result. And unless you had the time to do this yourself, having Nick to carry out the Project Management of it, would also give total peace of mind that the finished result would be completed on time, within budget and to an exceptionally high standard. We couldn't recommend him highly enough.
