Wellstudio were ever helpful and present in walking us through the steps for and managing the process of re-design and applying for Listed Building Consent and Planning Permission within a conservation area to support the upgrade and internal/external renovation of our London Grade II Listed home. I have recently a roof terrace built which was an ambitious project. Tom's designs were exactly what we were after and I am delighted with the finished product. It has transformed the space! I was new to building projects in London and like many others, it involved plenty of road blocks, but Tom was great at keeping things moving throughout the process until we reached the finish line. Here's our review for working with Tom & Wellstudio Architecture on our apartment renovation : 1. Being first-time homeowners & requiring early guidance This was our first apartment purchase in the UK, and we were unfamiliar with the process, budgets, and timelines involved. From the very start, Tom made the journey less daunting — patiently guiding us through each stage and ensuring we were informed and comfortable, without ever taking advantage of our inexperience. 2. Smart spatial transformation Our main goal was to convert a two-bedroom flat into a functional three-bedroom (third bedroom being a study) while maintaining the open living, dining, and kitchen space. After reviewing multiple architects and proposals, Tom stood out for his creativity — he was the only one who proposed a curved wall feature that gave us the best of both worlds. It was both innovative and practical. 3. Mindful design ethos One of the reasons we chose Wellstudio Architecture was its ethos of mindful, nature-inspired design. Tom’s approach to incorporating natural materials and creating a warm, balanced aesthetic truly resonated with us. The space now feels calm, welcoming, and full of character — not overly designed or artificial. 4. Transparent and flexible project management We were initially unsure how to approach the full project management side of things. Tom was transparent from the start — clearly explaining where he could take full ownership, where we might handle elements ourselves, and the pros and cons of each approach. This made us feel both supported and empowered throughout. 5. Design options & contractor collaboration Tom provided two design options — one light-touch and one higher-budget — helping us understand where we could invest more or scale back. We ultimately combined the best of both. He also helped us prepare tenders for contractors, and through his network we found OEG Construction, who were professional, on time, within budget, and delivered an exceptional finish. Tom’s coordination with them was seamless. 6. Collaborative, educational design process What we appreciated most was Tom’s co-creative style. The design process felt like a collaboration, not a top-down instruction. He welcomed our ideas, refined them thoughtfully, and balanced them with his professional expertise. At the same time, he stood firm on certain design principles when necessary. 7. Overall experience Working with Tom and Wellstudio Architecture has been an immensely positive and educational experience. The final result exceeded our expectations — beautifully functional, warm, and timeless. We would highly recommend Tom to anyone looking for a thoughtful architect who blends creativity, practicality, and genuine care for his clients.

We are in the early build stages of remodelling an modernised modest property in great location. A complete reimagining required so we consulted with Tom asking him to offer a vision. Tom responded with bold exciting design proposals to transform the old fashioned layout, opening out the spaces bringing light, airyness,height, exciting shapes and layout with contemporary details. I think it will be fantastic when the project is completed.

Our home and family life has been utterly transformed since our extension by Wellstudio. We love the high-ceiling, open plan kitchen dining space in which we now spend much of our time. The light-filled mezzanine area transforms the experience of working from home providing much needed separation without feeling shut away. The sunken nature of the extension also creates a feeling of complete privacy from surrounding neighbours.

A project that started off as remodelling in new bathroom morphed into a refurbishment of a late Victorian house with the addition of a kitchen extension and a dormer addition to a loft. At all times, Tom and his team were entirely focused and dedicated towards providing exactly what we required. Simplicity coupled with light and nature were ultimately the principles utilised in bringing our project to completion. We are completely delighted with our extension of kitchen and the design elements that were chosen are both contemporary and classic in equal measure. We are now discovering the benefits of light in a much more tangible way. Is a project manager, Tom and his team were fastidious and careful. I cannot recommend them highly enough.

Whilst project co-ordinating a refurbishment, I recommended Tom's practice Wellstudio architecture to my interior design studio's clients, a young creative family who were interested in undertaking an extension on their four story East London townhouse during the full scale renovation of their property. As the clients are lovers of art, we were keen to create a unique art led structure that was a little different, even unorthodox. The result was an origami inspired copper clad extension and garden canopy that's visual simplicity belies its technical complexity. This is where Tom really displayed his excellence as an architect, as he has both the artistic vision and collaborative character to flesh out conceptual forms that are genuinely original, but crucially, he also has the communication skills and technical rigour to bring it all to fruition with professionalism and diligence.
