Day True

Don’t retain Day True unless you want a constant headache throughout your refurbishment. Everything here is factual, no hyperbole or exaggeration. I unfortunately spent 100k with Day True (2 bathrooms, kitchen, flooring and 2 x wall to ceiling bespoke wardrobes).Yet every delay/mistake on my project was caused by Day True. To summarise some highlights: · On my license to alter, I got submissions from architects, engineers, builders on time for application to the freeholder, but was delayed 5 weeks by Day True repeatedly sending me the wrong drawings. · After paying £27k+ for bespoke wardrobes, Day True informed me the installation wasn’t included and was an additional cost. Then incorrect measurements were taken by the designer and the alteration required an additional panel that delayed installation of one wardrobe. I also had to ask where the installers had disappeared to, and only then was informed re the rescheduling. (There are no detailed notes provided re scheduling)/ · 6 weeks into the refurbishment, the day tiling was due to start on bathrooms, we discovered that the wrong tiles had arrived. They blamed the supplier, Popham Design, for this. Although the supplier did a rush order for the tiles and FedEx’d, this caused another 18 day delay. · Bathroom floor tiles were never delivered, only noticed when the builder mistakenly put the only floor tiles onsite into both bathrooms. Only after I raised re non-delivery and reimbursement, did they repay the money I spent on the missing tiles. · Other tiles arrived broken (yes, in addition to above mishaps!) and they confirmed it will take 6 weeks delay to replace these. · 3 week delay in kitchen and wardrobes delivery despite 3-4 month logistics planning. I was given 1 business day notice of the delay. Again the supplier was blamed. Installation team caused damage to a drawer – which I’m sure will result in another delay (also as above, alteration needed to wardrobes, resulting in another delay). · My en-suite can fit a full size bath (1700) but a 1500 was ordered by the designer. After the builder highlighted this to me, I insisted on a full size (which, no surprise, fitted) - that then incurred a 4 week delay to deliver a standard bath (they advertise as bathroom suppliers). Neither the designer, nor logistics ever picked up the phone to communicate but rather put bombshells like ‘it appears the wrong tiles arrived and due to long lead times will take 6-8 weeks to replace’ in the middle of mundane emails at close of business. I often had to ask where missing items/even wardrobe installers (!) were, rather than being provided with detailed scheduling. It was ad hoc addressing of issues (e.g. damage to kitchen drawer by installers), which often contributed to additional delays. I hope in writing this detailed review I will help prevent others having the unpleasant, stressful experience I’ve had with this company.

We have worked in collaboration with Day True for the past 5 years. We have always been impressed with the team, relaxed atmosphere and quality of work. They are very friendly and professional and their designs are excellent. Any technical, design or supply issues that comes up are always dealt efficiently. If you are looking for a great team of designers to assist with your project you should contact Day True.

Working with Day True has been a great experience. They are both very professional and personable, and have been a pleasure to have as project partners. They have great taste and their showroom is a treasure trove of wonderful products. I would thoroughly recommend them to both owners and other construction professionals.

Great team, very attentive and we're extremely happy with the end result! We stripped out and re-installed of our living room, kitchen, WC and guest bedroom. The project took 3 month to deliver and the Day True assisted in the original design works and procurement of the kitchen and bathroom goods.

I honestly wish I'd never come across Day True. My interaction with them resulted in significant stress (at a particularly delicate time, as I was pregnant and then had my first child), a waste of 7 months of my time and a waste of money, not to mention a damaged flat. We initially contacted Day True in September to refurbish our small flat in Bayswater and agreed we would have a project and design agreed by the end of the year, with a view to starting work in March. We immediately payed the full design fee that was requested and, after initial positive interactions, Charlie, the project manager, started avoiding contact with us - it turned out that they had no control whatsoever of their own designers' schedule nor that of their builders. We then started getting one apologetic message after another, blaming the contractors, but promising that we would get our designs. This was now February, and work was meant to start in March. In the meantime, one of their contractors came to inspect our joists to help DayTrue determine cost - this resulted in significant damage to our floor, but Day True reassured us they would seek a refund (for a fee that, we later found out, we should not even have paid) and that the floor would be fixed once the work started. More months went by, and, after more apologies, and their refusal to refund us the design fee, we agreed to continue to work with them and delayed starting the work to June. On the basis of this timeline, the designers started engaging with us again and it finally looked as we would finally be able to get somewhere - even though, on a more technical note, the designers' ideas did not take into account any of the guidelines we had provided them and were very basic ideas put together in haste on simple software. After 4 weeks - it was now May - we then got an email saying that they were too busy and that they would just refund the design fee. So in addition to being left out of pocket on the money paid to the contractor and having a damaged floor, we wasted an entire 7 months of our lives and had an inordinate amount of stress for what should have been a very simple project. The dishonesty, lack of transparency, cowardliness and sheer incompetence of the Day True staff was such that I am compelled to write this review to hopefully avoid anyone else having to go through this.

I've worked with Day True on various design projects, all of which were brilliantly managed and beautiful. Working with Hayley on such designs has taught me so much about spatial management, holistic design approach, product sourcing and practicalities of design, including the nitty gritty. Her dynamic design approach is non other than inspiring. Tony has a great business head and will be certain to get the projects moving swiftly and smoothly. Day True will help you push the boundaries of design and create a space that is designed for you, with longevity in design and product quality. Plus you are probably going to have a giggle along the way. Hayley and Tony are fun to work with and help take the stress away from any anxiety during the project. I would certainly recommend Day True, especially for kitchen and bathroom design. These projects are generally focussed on mid to high end.
