I have quite a formal style dining room table in storage and I'm thinking of using it in our new open-plan extension. It's mahogany and I've always protected the surface with place mats/ runner tablecloth .I'd like to use table but don't want to have to protect surface constantly. Our new extension is quite contemporary in style but I plan to add some traditional touches. Do I need to rethink this table? Was thinking of getting some funky chairs maybe mismatched.
