Tile paint - any tips?
Comments (6)a few months?? By the time you figure out the best way to do this and actually do it, your 3 months will just about be up :) why spend a lot of time and money when you know in a few months it will be gone. I say just spend your time researching what you will permanently replace it with. Or, once you think you found a tile you like and want to be sure, then buy one tile if you can and take it to a paint store and have them replicate the color and paint the tiles to get an idea of what it could look like overall. IMO all these bright and busy tiles some are using lately will only make it harder to change any colors in your kitchen in 5 years or so if you want to repaint. Neutral colors for expensive and labor intensive tiles are a much better choice :)...See MoreTiling for downstairs toilet
Comments (8)Limestone is perfect in a bathroom/wetroom environment. If you seal it - even better. As it is a natural stone, too much water/soaps/shampoos won't affect it (even if it wasn't sealed), unlike a ceramic or porcelain which would need a little more maintenance. Limestone's natural colours and variants in patterns & shades also disguise any marks which is perfect in that situation! Here's a wetroom we did last year for some clients, which is completely floor to ceiling in Travertine (a form of limestone) They love it as it is so easy to keep clean. I hope this helps in your decision making! Good luck! Holly @MillChris Developments Ltd...See MoreColors/design for open plan area
Comments (26)I think maybe Granite in the standard colours is actually quite a dated product. I know that people still use it. Maybe i'm more against it as i've lived with ours for nearly 20 years. The granite was very expensive and although we've changed units, we haven't changed the work top. I know my wife hates it, as it's pure black and hard to keep shiny. We've got a beautiful pale silestone ( polar cap ) in our new house, if we ever get there. Have to sell this one first, and this side of Brexit just isn't happening!! Good luck with your project....See MoreBrighten up our kitchen
Comments (33)I have painted the cupboards few months ago (being exactly in the same position where we only bought the house and don’t have a budget this year to do the whole kitchen). I am a photographer and the yellowish cast coming from our kitchen cupboards was driving me crazy. I discovered the paint that is especially for cupboards - it’s B&Q’d own brand Good Homes. It’s absolutely amazing! I also changed the knobs and the whole project costed me around £200 (including some mistakes like wrong paint colour etc) I am also trying to paint my tiles before Christmas, they are off white at the moment but I just want to freshen them up. The same range from B&Q has tile paint as well so I am going to try that too. Btw I painted bottom cupboards charcoal but you can do lighter colour if this is too dark for you. The worktop replacement in our case didn’t work as there is about 7 meters of it all around the kitchen. I couldn’t find a cheaper and good looking one but expensive misses a point of a cheap renovation (plus it’s silly to buy one and put on old furniture)....See More- 17 years ago
