slc2053, this is the site that I used to find lots of drawer dividers/organizers/sorting trays for my crafts. I used two different styles of dividers, and both worked just fine. I used the "Score and snap" version, inside large trays for some crafts, but realize you have to use self adhesive tabs to adhere the sections to the walls of the tray/drawer. Once at the site, you can search for whatever wording you wish, and it'll find you many different options. Search is at the top of the page. Kym

If you want to make your own, it shouldn't be that hard to get a piece of thin plywood to fit your drawer and cut channels in it, then fit it with lengths of plywood skin to suit. If you're not good with wood, you should be able to get a decent handyman to do it for you for a similar price to buying, especially if you're willing to do the sanding and sealing.

I've added those Lee Valley drawer dividers to my wish list. Like slc, I want a cutlery divider that has sections for all my cutlery- impossible to find in ready-made. Since my drawers are already made out of solid maple, seems silly to not utilize that.

You may want to look at Kitchensource.com also. I tend to prefer the metal drawers organizers that can be put in the dishwasher. You may also do a search for Blum as they have many inserts that you can purchase.

I have the Lee Valley dividers in my kitchen utensil drawer. I laid all my utensils on the counter and matched them up by similar sizes. My husband cut the 1/4" divider slats, painted them white to match the drawer interior and put in the little divider channels. My drawer is 30" wide and is now beautifully organized!

I need to avoid that website. They have so much stuff I didn't know I needed and really have no use for. Chedanemi, do you have the dividers just going one way or is it possible to have them going at right angles to each other? I guess you could put the brackets on dividers and work from there.

Another brilliant suggestion- though you could possibly notch the dividers halfway up and slide them in together (I do that with cardboard all the time when organizing my seed packets).

I am lucky enough to have a Lee Valley a short drive away- can you imagine how DANGEROUS that is? Talk about finding out what you didn't know you needed!!!

I thought of this thread when I stopped in at BB&B today: there, next to their selection of Revashelf stuff, was a set of spring-mounted drawer dividers - looked to me from what I could see like they worked on a sort of tension rod principle, but they were obviously very customizable!

Don't know if all BB&B have them (this was one on the UWS of NYC, so who knows if that one carries different stock or not?)

No way Jose does it lessen the cool factor! :>) In fact, it is quite an interesting experience- you still order as if from a catalogue, and they go into the back and bring the items out. You can even order ahead of time, and have it all ready for pick up! You can touch all the knobs, they have the kitchen organizing things on display, you can pull and prod and try them all out. Think I'll be heading out there this week to pick up my cabinet knobs and pulls, and will also pick up some of those drawer dividers, and of course some stocking stuffers for DH!! (Not that I'm taunting you in any way! :>)

Has anyone found a source for silverware drawer organizers ie ones lined with the antitarnish felt or chamois?

There are devices called "binning strips" that are essentially a stick-on strip w/ a series of slots, so you can put the dividers in lots of different positions.

And you can get 1/4" thick precut strips of wood, usu. 3" wide but sometimes wider or narrower, at hobby shops in lots of woods, including walnut and mahogany and cherry

I've never seen the silver felt liners anywhere except in an old buffet I have. That would be a nice option for a kitchen drawer, wouldn't it? I suppose one could locate the fabric and glue it in...Googling yields this as a first hit (I have no knowledge of this company or product at all). So the stuff is out there for DIYers.

You can buy silver cloth by the yard at Joann's or other fabric stores. It's not very expensive. I used it to line framed shadow boxes and mounted family heirloom sterling silver spoons (so far I haven't had to polish the spoons in well over a year).

The fabric is not very wide (but at least 28"), and it comes in a nice, really dark brown color. I can't think of a reason why it couldn't be used as a silverware (sterling or plate) drawer liner as well (use repositionable spray adhesive to keep in place).

I bought several yards of Pacific Silvercloth about 25 years ago and made roll-up pouches with individual slots for each placesetting of my sterling. I also made several pillowcase type pouches with drawstrings for trays, pitchers, etc.

I've only had to touch up the polish on the flatwear occasionally in the last 25 years because I put the place settings back into their pouches immediately after my dinner parties. My serving pieces get left out more frequently, so I've had to polish them more.

I recommend this approach to ANYONE. It doesn't matter if you're a poor sewer because crooked lines do not matter. The absolutely easiest way to make them is to cut the pieces with the rotary cutting wheels that quilters use and them assemble them with a serger.
