Hi, I'm thinking of redoing my bedroom! I would like one wall to be a deep purple and I want it to be more teenage like? What should I do? And would white and purple go well!?

Because I think that depends on the age of the teen.. to start with, make a huge frame / wall of all rosettes together, hung at same levels and directions. White works with most colours. are you keeping walls white and getting purple furniture and accessories? have you considered staining your wood? rearranging the furniture so that the drawers aren't right next to the cupboard may help. Comments (85)It looks great, I'm glad you and your daughter are so pleased and she has lots of room for friends over, playing etc. It can also be easily and cheaply adapted as she grows if she wants. My only criticism (if you can call it that) is that if not already your daughter may soon also want the desk to double up as a dressing table and therefore I think a mirror was a good idea but the memo board (which looks great) can always be moved as and when needed. (I thought i'd posted a comment on that previously but obviously not!). I might also add a desk light there for working during winter months. Comments (25)Ikea have a headboard which you can fit behind your own bed and eliminate the bedside units gaining more space for nightstand use and quilt storage underneath. It will give you some more privacy from the window too. Eventually a roman blind would be more appropriate too. The remaining wall at the side of the window can be used for hanging shelving like the ikea kallax. Open the space visually by simply adding a larger mirror to a side wall and hang hats scarves and even coats on pegs along the opposite wall. Use the space above the entryway door for shelving or closed cupboards and fit in a corner wardrobe. If you can remove the door or get it to swing outward. If you consider changing the bed for an underbed storage one it must have a hydraulic mechanism otherwise it is a nightmare. But you can find some storage bags or boxes that slide under the existing bed - just measure properly and try to make the best of the space. Alternatively you could change the bed completely to a high up loft base with a ladder and have ample space beneath it. Comments (5)It depends on what kind of look you're after. I like both wallpapers, but the first one feels more suitable for a bedroom. If you want a cosy, dark bedroom, you could pick the background colour of the wallpaper for the rest of the walls. 9 years agoDark purple is going to make the room very dark whereas now it looks quite bright. Do you really want to spend time in a dark room? If not why not try a lighter shade such as mauve. This will give you a strong colour without draining the light out of the room.

9 years agoHi Flora. Online shopping should help. A few ideas. I'd go for either the very pale mauve/lilac duck egg on the walls. You could just do one wall unless the others have holes in when you take the pictures down. Maybe buy or make a notice board to put all your rosettes on rather than hide them away just yet. Do you think you'd be allowed to paint your desk and bookcase cream to match the other furniture? I'd remove the desk chair and just use the cream one. I'd also put the mirror on here so you can use it for getting ready. You could try turning your bed against the wall to use as a sofa? Depending on wall colour get either duck egg or mauve cushions, some animal ones might be fun. This cushion is from anorakonline. I'd use the throw you have too. If you didn't want more of the animal theme, a wall decal is a really cheap way to make a statement, this one is from Amazon but have a look around as there are loads to choose from (they're also removable if your parents moan!)

9 years agoThanks this was very helpful! For the paint, I could do a feature wall then I thought I could do circles(like dots) to cover up the holes. Yes I could do a big board to hang some of them up! My parent were gonna get me the desk attached some could put the book sin the side bit and some of the other stuff ect! And for the mirror, again a new one cause im not too keen on it! Love the bed sofa idea but trouble is, where would I put my wardrobe, clothes drawers and desk!? I love the cusion, is that the on,y colour! We were going to get a new fluffy throw in purple, muve, whatever works! Yes I already have a sticker and its great,!!! Thanks for all this help!

9 years agoOk for the walls. Yes a feature wall is perfect! Yes I would get rid of the bookshelf because a lot of the stuff on it is going too! Yes to the mirror aswell, but maybe I front of my clothes drawers which maybe somewhere else in the room! This is all very helpful and I will try a few things out then!

8 years agoI definitely would tidy up everything and maybe organise the furniture around but if you do not have much money instead of painting the wall you could just get decals or stickers to keep the room lighter because that's key to having a great bedroom
