A Tiny Childs bedroom and a growing child, with no storage. Help!
Comments (15)Hi - I agree with some of the others that you should add a wardrobe (preferably fitted) where the white unit currently is. Ideally you want somewhere for clothes but drawers underneath and probably some overhead storage as well I'd say. You say your son is a real book worm and I noticed a lot of books at the end of his bed - could you put shelves up there where the clock and cool sign is? Either regular shelves or ikea picture ledges look nice with books - that's what we used as per attached photo. Also could you get something like a long ikea Kallax (4x1) to fit under the bed? It might be too high but you can get ones from Argos that are smaller I think and with the baskets that fit in each hole they would be perfect for Lego? I think it's a really lovely room and with a bit of sorting could look great and work well for your son...See MoreTiny bedroom
Comments (15)Just an update on this project: done by my husband in 1/2 day with budget = Nil. Basically he lowered the bed and used the bed protection planks to be the supporting basis for the 2 shelves which have been turned into cupboards... might not be the final product but will do for the moment....See MoreHelp redecorating our tiny bedroom
Comments (21)Are you sure you want to go industrial? The room looks like a cute little period bedroom not a converted warehouse (yes, I do know the industrial style is very fashionable at the moment). Personally, I like the idea of having a whole wall of curtains. Alternatively, is there a wallpaper with the same pattern that you could use on the wall? As you seem to like mid-century, vintage pieces too, I think I'd stick to that theme as it's more likely to really complement the room....See MoreTiny tween bedroom
Comments (5)Without a plan of the space it's difficult to say whether a mezzanine would work but they have many of the drawbacks of loft beds. With such low ceilings and a tiny room you might be best off looking at folding beds (Murphy beds). You can buy off the shelf beds which transform into desks with no need to keep taking all the stuff of the desk or remove all the bedding (I think you'd need to take off the duvet though). Have a look at StudyBed.co.uk for an example. They're expensive but then fitting a mezzanine would be too. Alternatively there are various plans for Murphy beds which a local carpenter (or good DIYer) could follow or adapt for less. One possibility would be folding bed on one wall and desk on the opposite wall....See More- 10 years ago
