    “Over the last 12 months Fable and Willow have provided me with 2 sets of gorgeous handmade curtains and 3 blinds as well as extra touches such as lampshades and draft excluders to really finish my rooms off.     “I recently moved house, to a new area I am not familiar with, and wanted some help with window furnishings. Closs & Hamblin contacted by phone initially and asked me about my project, they arranged for a lady to come out to measure, and bring a variety of fabric samples. Julie was really helpful, and spent time listening to my ideas, then measured the windows, and advised on both poles and curtain headings. She then helped me choose the right fabric to go with my sofa, and talked through how the order would be made and fitted. I was then sent a quote, which I accepted. The curtains were hand made and delivered by a fitter, who installed the poles, and hung the curtains - again a seamless process. I cannot recommend this company highly enough, they were really friendly, listened to my requirements, kept me informed all the way through my order and delivered everything on time.”

    “Not only did Spiffy Spools produce a beautiful roman shade for me, but they provided excellent customer service. I had originally order my shade with a ribbon border, this is a significant up charge. Their designers didn't think the color and pattern layout matched with the ribbon. They carefully laid it all out and emailed me photos so I could make an informed decision. I choose to leave it off. They fully credited me for the border. The shade is significantly better without it and I am so glad they spoke up. Upon install they quickly responded to my emails with questions and were always friendly! I will definitely be ordering from them in the future.”

Take into account the room’s style, choosing curtains that complement the overall decor in terms of colour, pattern, and fabric texture. Measure the window accurately to ensure the curtains are the right size and length, considering whether you prefer floor-length or sill-length curtains. Select curtain fabrics based on light-blocking abilities, durability, and ease of cleaning.
    In general, your curtains width should be double the width of your windows. For length, this depends on if you want floor length, sill length curtains or below sill. For sill length curtains, they should sit 1cm above the windowsill. Below length curtains generally sit around 15cm under the sill. For floor length curtains, ensure there is at least a 1cm gap between them and the floor. If your window has a radiator underneath it, the curtains should stop around 2-3cm above the radiator to avoid heat being absorbed by the curtain.
    Simply measure from where you want your blinds to start (the rail), to where you want your blinds to finish. Add 10-15 cms to this to prevent light bleed. To ensure your blinds fit correctly, take measurements at 3 equal points across your window and use the longest size.
