I have parquet with cornforth White so it gets my vote! A cool colour is best anyway to make the parquet stand out

Answer now based on actually reading the title of the dilemma..the colour looks good in the first pic but it does look as if it needs to go a little lighter in the 2nd pic where that room/part of the room doesnt get so much light

Dont paint it! Just Danish oil will bring out the natural grains

Oh, you are a lucky person! Leave the colour as it is. You will probably have it sanded and treated with wax. It will look beautiful.

I agree, the colour is fab! I remember finding parquet flooring on the whole ground floor in a house we bought. My clever mum used to do a deal with the caretaker at the private school across the road, to borrow their huge industrial buffer about once every 6 months. It took no time at all to wax and polish to a stunning shine. Then it was no shoes for us kids until further notice :) It really is beautiful! Lucky you!

I would leave natural colour or if you like fresh and clean Scandinavian look then use white oil to make it lighter. Once coat will bring more natural look of wood (clear oil can darker the wood a bit).

Don't paint it. Use a soft wood wax. Patina is best, or Danish oil (but that's a bit trickier to apply). It will just bring out the grain and protect rather than change the colour. Gorgeous with your blue colour and a little Union Jack cushion or two.

It's fabulous - leave it! Also, in the last house I renovated my hallway was dirty - the estate agent told me not to sand it as it added character. I'm fanatical about cleanliness and I had my husband to clean it and oil it - it looked awesome but still retained the character and the age. The photo attached isn't great but this is the last house I was working on - you can just about see the floor.

Don't use anything polyurethane based or it will yellow. I have used Osmo floor oil with a small amount of white emulsion added to 'grey it slightly.

Wow, that's a lucky find! It's like finding gold under your floorboards, people pay thousands of pounds to have original looking parquet flooring in their home. Looking at your photos, the flooring looks like is is in good condition and has been well preserved. I say keep it as it is and give it a light sand and seal. There are companies around that can do this professionaly for you or you can hire a sander and do it yourself.

So it looks awesome and for the meantime I'm leaving it. Will upload a new project once it's complete but here's a sneak preview
