App or website for virtual interior design plans

Please can anyone advise on apps or website that maybe used for virtual interior design planning. An app you can use to plan a room virtually before trying it in real life. I mean like put in the picture of a rug, some sample cushions, sofa arrangements etc, to have an idea what it will look like. Many thanks in advance.

Have pasted in a link above to some free design sites - but, please remember, having the tools doesn't necessarily mean you are now an instant designer ! Always ask for someone in the know to safety check your ideas before you go ahead !!!

Hi Gillian, it's very difficult and time consuming to learn how to use a rendering software. Even after knowing the basics it would take a lot of practice and extra learning to get professional and life-like results. Have a look around for night courses in your area, they may have an AutoCAD/Sketch Up one available if this is the route you're wanting to take. When I first started, I attempted to learn but found it was far too intricate and I just didn't have the time, I instead hired someone to do it for me. I would offer clients either a computer rendered photo of what the project will look like completed or a few drawings done by myself of what the completed project will look like. The mock ups done on AutoCAD I hired someone for would cost more for the client and would take 1-3 months to complete, as appose to the drawings that would take me a few days and were less expensive. Well a quote - not an estimate - is not supposed to go up as you go along ! It's a price that's fixed. An hourly rate is obviously very different. Before you enter into any agreement with a professional they should set out what their services are for, how much they are and when and how you need to pay in their T&C's that should be given to you before they even start. Maybe you need a quote from a concept planner instead ( like us !) You'd still need SE obviously, when knocking through walls etc, but we don't really get involved with the colours and choosing soft furnishing - we deal more with the room flow, sight lines from strategic points, overall layout and also design of fitted furniture in rooms like kitchens, bedrooms, dressing rooms etc etc etc we put sofas and chairs etc when required into our drawings too, as they are a large part of the room and consequently the design, but we don't help you choose colours or tell you where to shop ! So it can work out less cost than an interior design service, as you are getting less help with that side of things.

Watched the TV program for the first time this week. Good viewing albeit the presenters‘ enthousiasme does sometimes get OTT and on my nerves. 🙂 I was actually a little disappointed (but not surprised) the couple went for the woman’s plans which were good but quite ‘safe’. Thought the man‘s plans were more interesting.

Lovely kitchen/dining/seating area. I’m sure someone on here will say the sink needs to be 0.25mm to the left 😊 but I’d be very happy to live there. I liked the outdoor seating area too. Once we left that room I got a bit lost. Not sure what the room with all the shelving is - utility? And the video went very dark in the red room, is that a garage? However, despite that you should be very pleased with yourself! 👏👏👏
