Comments (85)Yes that was one of the issues with our place. Narrow corridors, poorly lit. But by rearranging the access to key spaces, blocking some doors and creating a new double width doorway to the principle room, what was a narrow hallway is now integrated and useful. By converting the large loft, we now have a stairwell lit by two velux windows which also throw light into the heart of the building. Lastly the old underhouse garage is now a studio, glazed with full height blue-grey aluminium windows and a door. Comments (81)Hiya Jill, thanks for sending those images over. In response to your first question about your bedroom, I can think of a couple of solutions that may work. The first is the same solution as my previous French window answer to @montbray and fit something that moves with the window, either a Pleated or a Venetian which operate under tension and open with a thumb tab rather than a cord. Alternatively, it would look quite nice if a blind, particularly a Roman blind was fitted right to the top of the wall above the window, at the ceiling. This will allow the blind to be ‘dressed’ to form a valance effect above the window when the blind is open, giving full view from, and use of the window and when it is closed, it will give the illusion of the window being taller. In the case of your bathroom blind, you might like to try a waterproof Roller blind made from PVC fabric. Alternatively, Faux wood blinds are a really great idea, as they have all the look of traditional Wooden blinds, but won't warp in wet or steamy conditions. Admittedly, it is a difficult window to dress and there are not a lot of options, but hopefully, these will give you some ideas. Comments (27)We can really relate to this poll as we design and install all manner of home cinemas, from a sound-bar right through to a dedicated cinema room which will deliver better visual and sound than the local cinema. However, we find the cinema is still an experience for some of our customers: - you get to see the latest film you've been waiting for - maybe grab a meal before/after - maybe the film just has to be seen in 3D or in an IMAX [3D at home is typically limited] We think that some films just have to seen at the cinema; and with the latest entry-level TVs offering a great picture and cinema surround sound systems readily available off the shelf, the quality of cinema at home is really accessible - especially for your favourite boxset!!...See More
