Fire place
Comments (7)Hi Rosie, I would start by getting rid of all the existing ornaments. I would then put two pictures in frames on the top two shelves. I would lean them back against the wall rather than use a stand. I would then add an ornament either side. Perhaps something glass or mirrored to create some light and interest. I would then buy a couple or lovely big log baskets and put them either side of the log burner make more of a feature of it. This will then draw the eye to the log burner rather than the fireplace. Hope this helps!...See MorePlease advise: TV above fire place, what shelves?
Comments (4)Lol. You should clarify the scope of work with any trades person you hire. Don't assume anything! I would suggest a competent handyman. You could hire an electrician but that might work out more expensive. You could also go to a Home Audio Visual Installation company but they can work out the most expensive. They do, however, offer many more services like fitting surround sound systems, ceiling speakers, home cinema systems etc. So generally you would get a handful of quotes, making sure you have explained exactly what you want done and then pick the most reasonable one. You can try sites like mybuilder.com to find local trades people. They can give you quotes online....See Moregrade 2 listed fire place
Comments (4)Would you consider an electric or a bioethanol fire at all? Woodburners are heavy polluters both inside and outside the home and their use has already been restricted in some areas. Some of the electric and bioethanol fires are very authentic looking. Here’s some examples. The first three are electric and the last one is bioethanol and requires no flue....See MoreFire Place in Awkward Position
Comments (11)I honestly don't think it will be a huge deal to have the fireplace to the side (I'm usually very OCD about having things symetrical) if the fire surround is going also that sortof means it won't be such a huge chunky thing and you could tone it down.. of you brought a wood burner you could get one of those long tall ones and then almost turn that corner into the 'cosy' area- I'm afraid I don't have an image of this but my friend has done it and it looks really good you can still have the sofas boardering the room the whole way round but just have the log burner in the corner...See More- 11 years ago
